28 days of incarceration in their police "box" with "forced" confessions and "oral" testimony. I can imagine the scenario: "sign that confession right now or I'll stop what I am doing to you..."

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect her employer (the Army) to reassign her to a position in the States where she can still be productive and take care of her baby. This type of rigidity makes the Army look bad and will hurt recruiting. People get pregnant and have babies, deal with it.

I am glad he made it. Hopefully if he reflects that others risked their lives for him he may want to live. I wonder if it being Sunday, people had a different feeling because they were not pressed to make it to work.

I reward good food/service by returning. When I changed offices 2 years ago it took me about 1 year to find 4-5 good lunch places. Most places have bad food or service. Once I find a good place though I keep going.

Well, I heard stories of guys being robbed, and in two cases the robber was totally overwhelmed by a boxer who basically knocked him out, and in a second case thrown by a guy with judo. I think boxing is particularly effective, then perhaps judo, karate-type (tae kwon do, shorinji kempo) etc., then maybe aikido if you really know what you are doing. One thing to consider about karate and tae kwon do is the kicking may throw you off balance (particularly roundhouse if you miss the mark) and cannot be done in close circumstances. Also, in a street fight in Japan kicking is considered a severe form of assault compared to punching, so if you kick someone who punches you it would not be considered a proportionate response based on my understanding, at least for self defense purposes.

I think anyone competently trained in any of the martial arts or boxing will put up a pretty good fight.

Or, perhaps the police said just admit it and we will let you go with a fine even though you really were too drunk and don't remember it. Drunk guy puts hand on your thigh, slap him hard enough that he will remember it. Issue settled without making a federal case of it.

The rape and incest example is always thrown out there like an old dull christmas bulb that you hang on the tree every year for the sake of sentimentality. But really, is this a big problem? Is there any data on how many women in the US really get pregnant via those two methods per year?
