My understanding is that under Japanese law a parent cannot "kidnap" their own children, so I suspect he will not be charged with anything.

Yes I do. Japan need to align herself with North America esp the USA, not with China. Japan need to understand that the balance of wealth and power will never shift from north america to asia in the 21st century.

Watch out! Taro does the crime, suspended sentence; gaijin does the crime, slammer for two times the amount of Taro's suspended sentence. Kind of like the US cocaine/crack distinction in harsher sentencing.

I certainly agree with the concerns above and was taken aback by such an unusual question to the mother. But I guess it is better than what happens in typical criminal trials in Japan where a rubber stamp judge with probably even more bias towards foreigners than the average Japanese…

This lead to a whole series of problems before with temp workers. Wouldn't it be better to hire a smaller amount of permanent employees?
