The Korean veterans were tired, you say. Well, the Japanese veterans weren't! Yes, I'm happy with the Korea assisted victory.

Japan was lucky to get a penalty. All your other excuses about tiredness, injuries, veterans, youngsters, resting time...etc. are total BS. Korea lost because Japan WAS the better team. On the pitch, on the bench, by coaching and by preparing. Let's face it, vg866. How can a 22-year old pro football player be too tired to take a penalty?

vg866, during last year's world cup you said Cameroon and Denmark are below average. But at least they are ranked higher than your Korea! Maybe they don't get tired that easily?

I'd better comment on more important issues. The final. It's gonna be close. Australia just beat Uzbekistan 6-0. Japan just beat SK. Two boosts. Still I put my money on Australia.

Smith, I totally agree wit you on the penalty shoot-outs. But saying that Korea had the best chances goes a bit too far. Yes, they had SOME chances with headers but never that threatening as the chances Japan had. Actually I thought that it was KOREA instead of Japan doing a wicked job to put the ball into the box. But Japan defended well for a change. Although I almost got a heart attack every time the ball came close to Iwamasa. The penalties in regular time were a bit of a disgrace. The one for Korea was disputable. The one for Japan was absolutely NOT a penalty. Overall, Japan had the best of the field play and outclassed the Koreans on penalties. But Zac......why did you let Nagatomo take a penalty!!!???

aj2o1,
S.Korea didn't win the game and it will take light years to surpass Japan economically.

I don't know why there's all that fuss about the broadcast. JT is not a program guide. It's not that hard to get that info from other sources, online or from your guide on your TV.
Smith, I agree with you partly about Honda. With any free kick close to the box he's there to lay claim on it. So far without success. But his field play is good. He has an eye for putting others in scoring positions or passing to them when he sees they are in a better position. He DOES play as a unit and hardly tries to go it alone.

Uuuhmmm....magpie, if I may. This story about the West Asian Football Federation Championship is very nice.....BUT......Saudi Arabia NEVER participated!!! Actually, they only became a member in 2010. Do some homework before you post, will you?

Let's define "Gulf region", hoserfella. Because for some reason you refuse to see that THAT is what the article is about (concerning Saudi Arabia). We're talking here about countries like Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrein, UAE and Oman. Now, every region (or continent) has its "heavyweight". And in THIS region, being it weak or not weak, Saudi Arabia is one of them (with Iran). Again, as the article stated! And as I stated!! The GULF REGION, hoserfella!!!

hoserfella, read the article again. It says "Gulf heavyweight". Not "World heavyweight". Calling Saudi Arabia a featherweight in the Gulf area is ridiculous.

I would say just 1 of those 3 losses was humiliating. Besides, it's kind of funny to see that the most successful team in Asian Cup history, who qualified for the World Cup four consecutive times, is named "featherweight" based on 3 games in just 1 week. Rich!!

Ozken:
Would you mind checking the website of the Premier League and search for the link "Top 10 Goalkeepers", which was updated yesterday at 11am? Then maybe you understand who's uninitiated here.

Maybe. Maybe not. But I DO have the ability to see that a goal keeper is NOT world class if he never made it to the Top 10 of best goal keepers in the world. It also shows that I not only judge his qualities by the standing of his club.

Playing in a world class league doesn't make him one of the best keepers in the world (world class). Besides, if he's really that good his club wouldn't be ranked 15th.

I always had a feeling that Okazaki could bring more than Honda. He (Honda) is a good player, but I wonder what Zaccheroni will do against Qatar. I still think he should keep Okazaki as a substitute to get the best out of him. Anyway, this was definitely not a slaughter and Schwarzer is good, but not world-class. Let's keep things in perspective.
