I am not sure if Muslims, even the non-radical ones, really can see westerners as friend, since their holy book quran says otherwise.

No, they can not. Read the translation of quran(Surah Al-Maidah : Ayat 51) below.

'O believer! Do not take the Jews and Christians as friends, they are friends of each other among themselves, and whoso of you makes them his friends, then he is one of them. Undoubtedly Allah guides not the people unjust.

Roppongi might be quite a good place if American soldiers and Nigerians gangsters could stay away.

    Totally Agree.

OK, from now on, shoes will be considered as a weapon in the airlines. You need to fly the planes in special socks with locks, provided by the airlines and prices to added to you surcharge. Cannot be barefoot, because untrimmed nails are to be considered as weapon as well.

I know someone who works in a bank and does initial checks on applications for credit cards....she told me, they have an unwritten rule...if the total income of the family is not above 7 million a year, they usually reject the request.

All that hate about Microsoft....I wonder how many of you are using other OS to access this site and write the message.

Microsoft made the whole PC concept popular in the World...if MAC and unix (and buddies) were all that good, windows won't be the OS for most of the PC in the world, and, PCs won't be that many in the first place. MAC has always been a boutique shop, never main stream, and Unix (and bussdies) has never been easy for regular Joes. So, shout as you want, MS will remain big for long.

...while Tokyo is one of the ugliest cities in the world...

Comments like this stops us, those who love Tokyo, from reading articles such as this. Before you pour down your expertise on the beauty of cities, remember that beauty is in the eye of beholder.

The composition is not good. If taken from a little right angle, without the red cone, more focus on the pigeon on his knee, probably could bring out more of this picture.

I am not going to go to a Cinema because the theater is of good design. If the movies is not good, it doesn't matter how trendy the theater design is.

going on sale in various parts of the world (not Japan, alas)

In that case, why do we care? Why it should be included in the news of JapanToday

For a price tag of 13,775 yen, I would rather stick to my non-solar panel keyboard and 100 yen batteries. Specially, since in Tokyo, most of the houses do not get enough sunlight, this keyboard will need to be put in the balcony to get enough sunlight to charge its batteries.

The headline is misleading , it should be changed from "Child mortality rate in Japan 2nd highest in world" to "Child mortality rate in Japan is second highest among the world’s 13 most developed nations."
