Interesting. You can almost tell from the comments who's been here for more than five years…

An act of children. The rightists of Japan, another group of children, are green with envy…

so, some of you would rather have the Chinese system where if you speak out at all then you are arrested and disappear? Don't even try to say that the US government is quite like the Chinese. Oh no! They're tapping your phones! Yes, that's not really the best thing to do, but come on. Look at how they are handling something like the Olympics. If you think that you can't, in America, go out and have a free assembly, and speak your mind about the pres. or whomever without being arrested and killed or whatever, you are just as delusional and paranoid as you accuse the gov't of being. It's a bunch of hippies like some of you that are screaming this crap. Bunch of whiners if you ask me, or even if you don't.

By the way, if my child doesn't "like" me at the moment because I disciplined them, I should allow them to choose someone else? I don't think so. Why should it be an older person? I've known plenty of older people who would've made very poor role models. Please explain.

What does it have to do with J.K. Rowling's book? You seem to be drawing a parallel to a pasttime which has been positively linked to increased intelligence and something about guardians, role models, and being carefree. What are you trying to say, or did you perhaps post on the wrong article?

4 words. Cool biz/warm biz. Dumbest thing I have ever heard of when you consider that they work late into the night for no reason other than looking like they are hard workers. Here's an idea, just don't turn the heat up to Amazon temps in the winter, and down to arctic in the summer. Keep the doors closed and don't heat/cool the outside. It isn't hard, and yet, the J-government feels that they need to make a big show of it in order to feel like they are doing something.

raj, where do you come up with such nonsense?
"Freed of guardians, responsibility and other problems, what do young become after that." They put down the book and realize that it is just one person's imagination and a pretty entertaining story.
"This when you are at the beach, at holiday resorts, are on holidays, travelling on holidays or on any other proper suitable time." So the only time a CHILD should have an imagination is when they are on vacation?
"If the young people cannot accept their guardians/parents, then they they must choose anyone else from older generations whom they like, to role model or be their mentor." Why would any child choose a BOOK as a guardian/parent? What fantasy world do YOU live in?
"I and even many others will be lost if we ourselves did not choose the older persons, as our role models or our mentors. We need to help them avoid the same mistakes made by us and past generations." Again, no one is choosing a book as their guardian. It's called entertainment. Reading a book like that lets you forget about the day to day stresses that a person may feel without any side affects, other than an expanded vocabulary and the ability to groom your imagination, which, as I see by your posts, you think shouldn't be nurtured or accepted.
"There must proper process for young generations. We must give up bad habits for young and gullible." Really? What is a proper process in your mind? What are the "bad" habits for young and gullible? And, who are you to judge who is gullible? You? It seems like when you were gullible and young, you were groomed to believe that youth, fun, and free thought were not things to be had by anyone.
"There is no such things as carefree life, at least on this planet of earth or planet of life/death." Really? Did you think that one up all on your own? No one is saying there should be, or is. However, no one is also saying that you should completely shut down a child's right to be a child and be carefree if only in their mind, which you so hope to control.
Lastly, why do you feel that children who read these books need to be shut down and forced to give up childhood to pick up your "good" habits? And what good habits are those? Your ramblings on this subject sound an awful lot like the religious zealotry that is running rampant in our world today, telling people how to live and saying things very similar to what you are saying about things like books, movies, and music.

We ask them who the militants are, they don't tell us. We try to find them, the civilians cover for them. So, what can we do? We do airstrikes, they claim all we killed were civilians. Kinda a catch-22, dontcha think?

I'd be speechless to if someone told me something so dimwitted and stupid. Possibly true for her office, but still smacks of stupid. This one seems to up there with that whole "Japanese have longer intestines, so American beef isn't good for us..." crap.

Why is it that anything foreign, the Japanese feel the need to dub? Can they not read? Is it too far over their heads? Every time it seems when I see a show on about any foreign country, they dub over all the voices AND subtitle it. Come on, is it really that hard to read subs in your native tongue?

Why is everyone still stuck on this "pubic hair is illegal kick"? Get informed people. Pubic hair has been banned "in principal" since 1992. Before that, completely banned, after 1992, it is up to the discretion of the censor.

"He said: “It must be ghoulish when the trapdoor opens and I drop through it. Every prisoner is forced to feel terror after being told of their execution by prison staff on the day, which is inhuman.”" - Miyazaki
Uh, sorry dude, he gave up his right to call anything inhuman after what he put those children through. What he had done to him was far more humane than anything he did to them.

hoserfella, your post "rjd_jr, Is it Wednesday already? Or is it Thursdays when you are dead set against porn? I've lost track..." makes absolutely no sense. He was clearly not saying anything against porn, but against the police who apparently have nothing better to do than arrest a woman for doing something that doesn't really seem illegal to do.

I never did understand the allure of buying a house by going to the "showroom" and saying I want that one. Have any of you seen the crap that they push? No insulation, the need to run either the a/c or the heat constantly to stay comfortable and the overall cheapness of the house for what appears to be the GDP of a small country. I like this man's ideas and business philosophy. The customer gets what the customer wants, not what the seller thinks is best...

Why do some of you think this actually has to do with porn? It has nothing to do with it. That is like saying that men who watch action movies take that to real life. I'm sure some men do, but that would not make much of a difference. I watch porn, and I am over the age of 12, so I would like to think that I know the difference between porn world, and the real one. And for the record, where else do men get other visual examples of sex? That is one of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard. Could the lack of sex, orgasms, etc have anything to do with men, usually, who would rather work from sunup to sundown, then go home to their wife and spend some time with her? Think that overwork might have something to do with it? Open your mind a little bit and get off what the anti porn crowd is telling you to think. I'll bet you believe that violent video games are causing all the youth violence too, huh?

Jeez. Get over yourself for a minute. Just because one of the volunteers is a moron and didn't think before speaking doesn't mean that Obama's whole campaign is a sham. Okay, you were discriminated against. The one who did it apologized. The campaign collecitively apologized. There isn't a huge conspiracy perpetrated by the world to discriminate against you. Accept the apology gracefully, and move on with your life. Are all Muslims this sensitive? And if so, it would explain a lot of strife in the world today.

I can also appreciate the concern for the possibility of an innocent person being put to death. However, as I said above, what about the innocent person that gets a life sentence and ends up dying in prison? The possiblity of an innocent being put to death or put in prison for life (which results in death) will NEVER be completely gone. Just can't happen. We are human, and there is no chance. We can only strive for perfection knowing that we will never attain it. And I am all for a bullet to the head. But in the end, the rope ends up being cheaper. You know, reduce, reuse, recycle?
