I see they borrowed the no-personality mannekins used in the salaryman suithouses.

Yeah, right. If I waited for anyone to speak to me in English I'd have no one to talk to from one day's end to the next.

Ahh the benefit of not living within 100 km of Tokyo or any of the other concrete jungles.

Why don't Japanese speak English better than they do?

Well they sure as hell try. Too bad if you're interested in Japanese at all. Many don't really like it when that perceived English opportunity vaporizes into thin air because you refuse to speak English to them after being used as an English tool and exploited to no end for your first couple of years here. OK I'm finished with my rant.

I'd just like to let everyone know that I went here a few weeks back. They had blue crap dangling from the ceiling, whether it was Tanabata or not I don't know. The atmosphere was very nice, but that may have had something to do with the beer.

Note: beer cannot be purchased from the higher observation deck. But the view is even better, so drink your beer then go up, then drink more beer when you come back to the regular deck.

is it going to have a massice Kitty-chan or Doraemon hanging off it?

I believe there will be millions of them and other pieces of crap hanging in the lobby, but at sky high prices.

Still easier and more fun than walking along a flooded street in Tokyo as salaryman wave after wave hits the pavement.

You'd think the never ending price increase of wheat would stem the unquenching thirst for bread and other delicious foreign goods. Have a rice day and have some unsatisfying local food and culture.

If the agriculture ministry really wants to protect its inefficient farmers, why not put up the standard bikini act? Salaryman wouldn't be nodding off then would he.

People will probably refer to the new landmark as New Tokyo Tower, and that will be that.

    End of story. Luckily.

Sky tree? I thought marijuana was hard to find in this country.

Why, is March Lent or something?

It doesn't have anything to do with Buddhism, Confucianism, white chapels for weddings or anything else borrowed from abroad and adopted and modified to create some fantasy of uniqueness.

...arrested for allegedly having sex with the woman in her 30s twice in March

This is an offense in itself, regardless of the man's job.

For a country so concerned about what the English-speaking West thinks of them, they really should have counsulted at least one of them before they yet again turn into a joke.

I don't know why this traditional breakfast is so surprised. She knows where the women-only car is.

That's what it's really about, lower costs for those with small budgets. Good luck to them though. I'll take 500.

I love the end of his coffee commercial, where he takes a sip and then belts out his name. Jero. What delivery. What a guy.

He's nothing without that off to the side cap though. I predict big things for that cap if they fall out and go solo.

What you need to keep in mind is that it's death on a stick out there mate. Narrow, poorly maintained roads crowded to the extreme with mindless pedestrians and drivers who can't remember which is the accelerator and which is the brake.

Japan Inc. really stands for Japan Incompetent.

I'm all for the new line to alleviate some of the congestion on that route, but I'm against the complete fruitcake they used in the commercials to promote it. Such a fragile stick doubled with a space cadet mentality is supposed to be cute, but really needs a good side drive through the chest and out the doors.
