The someone you refer to is the UN and you seem to be suggesting they have authority now.

Are you suggesting that the UN or Britain (with the Balfour Declaration) had any right to take away the land from the Palestinians and hand it over to the group of people who had no ties to the region?

And if you're saying the UN has authority, why are the UN's constant calls for the Israelis to move back to the 1967 borders ignored? I guess the UN only has authority when it suits the Israelis.

Strange that this article makes no mention of the evidence that Hezbollah has implicating Israel in Hariri's murder. I can understand Hezbollah being upset that the tribunal would ignore such evidence.

What the heck are you basing this on?

On many things, including the two quotes I provided above, which were also in the initial article.

What ruling are you talking about? The one in 2009?

No, he was presiding judge in a case filed on November 30, 2010; the plaintiff was the United States of America.

Jared Lee Loughner lived at home with his parents, yet the usually voracious news media shows no interest in them. He was very publicly demented, yet no one did anything about it. He gives all appearances of being a drugged out zombie; what drugs was he on, what doctor was treating him, what is the background of his parents - and how did he get to be such a tragically good shot with no apparent training?

Indeed the headline is about the congresswoman's recovery. But the article also mentions:

Meanwhile, the attorney for a 22-year-old loner accused of trying to assassinate Giffords...

Jared Loughner potentially faces the death penalty on charges of trying to kill the Arizona congresswoman...

It seems the entire trial will be about his attempted murder of Giffords and not the actual murder of a top US Federal Judge for the State of Arizona.

From the very beginning, I had the feeling they don't want us to look at his murder. "Hey lets not look at what possible motives he might have had to murder the judge, it must certainly be a coincidence that he was murdered barely 72-hours after he made a critical ruling against the Obama administration's plan to begin the confiscation of their citizen’s private retirement and banking accounts!"

I do wish her a speedy and as complete recovery as possible, but let's not be blinded by it.

I am so surprised at how little is mentioned about the murdered judge, and so much about the injured congresswomen.

The "Palestinians" were offered a state in 1948, which was larger than what they have now...

No, Palestine was much larger than what they have now. In 1948, someone who had no authority to do so handed the best land to a group of Jews.

Palestinians can leave and many have left.

There is absolutely no reason why they should have to leave. That is their land, the Israelis are illegally occupying it, and destroying Palestinian homes, illegally blockading them, and preventing their exports.

The Israelis must leave the occupied territories, the world must force it to do so.

Israel is a bastion of economic stability in the Middle East

Yeah, thanks to the naive American taxpayers. Any "nation" that would receive an equal per capita financial and military aid would be at least equally "stable".

No matter how you spin it Israel has the upper hand ...

Yeah, just as the Nazis had the upper hand versus the camp inmates.

Fortunately, the rest of the world is waking up, and Israel is becoming ever so isolated. Israel better return to the 1967 border quickly, or else they might end up losing big time.

Start letting foreign companies build factores and start investing with the money they get in donations instead of buying piss poor weapons from the Iranians.

I guess you are not aware that the Israelis block exports from Gaza. You can be sure foreign companies will not invest there.

If they've got a problem with Israel building their settlements how about they pool their money and build the settlements first and then lease the property to Israelis.

I guess you are not aware that the Israelis are constantly demolishing Palestinian buildings. It also seems one must Jewish to get a building permit to build on the Occupied Palestinian Territories!!!

You really should learn something about what is going on there, rather than simply pasting Israeli talking points.

It's not a jail if they can leave and judging by all the Palestinians living in my neighborhood they most certainly can.

They cannot leave freely. Many die because they cannot leave Gaza to get medical treatment. There have also been cases where Palestinians had scholarships to study abroad, but were not allowed to leave. Gaza is a prison, and what Israel is doing is illegal and disgusting.

Billions of American tax-payer money are continually sent to fund Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity.

There's more to gain siding with Israel than with Palestine.

For the leaders, yes; for the general population, no! I prefer siding with humanity.

    Fear of the US government?

Parts of the US government are certainly a major problem. Just look back at the anthrax scare in 2001. They initially tried pinning it on Muslims, and when the source turned out to be a US government lab they "suicided" some poor patsy and closed the case; the bad guys are still out there. I wouldn't be surprised if the same people are behind this.

Why is there no political will to get them out?

Groups like AIPAC wield a lot of power. Any US leader that would decide to go against Israeli wishes would certainly be attacked by the MSM or assasinated.

Although some nations have yet to officially recognize the state of Palestine, all nations recognize that the land taken in 1967 is Occupied Palestinian Territories and that ALL settlements on that land are illegal.

The draft Security Council resolution ... would reaffirm that all Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, “are illegal and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace.

In other words the resolution would simply repeat what the UN and the entire world has already stated. But will Israel listen and start following international law?

In my opinion, Israel is finished, the rest of the world is waking up and finally figuring out what Israel really is.

“Israel has demonstrated time and time again its commitment to peace...

Only Israelis seem to think so. Everyone else knows better.

...muslims slaughtering christians because they are of a different religion?

I'm not so sure Muslims are behind these attacks. Actually, I'd be surprised if they were. I can think of some people who would be delighted to have Christians and Muslims fight each other.

He said his brother was “deeply disturbed by all the ills fallen upon his beloved homeland...

Yeah, the worst of these ills were at the hands of his father, the shah (aka, ruthless evil dictator).

The vicious attack by the Israeli navy against an unarmed humanitarian aid flotilla in international waters in the middle of the night, resulting in the murder of at least nine. The flotilla was trying to deliver desperately needed medical materials and other stuff that Israel prevents entry to Gaza by an illegal and brutal blockade.
