How on earth do you leap from that reality to Sharia. Your fears are founded on pure and utter speculation and nothing more.

These fears are based on anti-Islam propaganda. Some want us to fear these people becoming free, because they want the west to continue to have access to their cheap resources (among other things).

These protests are largely secular.

As I pointed out to you before, Aljazeera and RT have also focused their comments on the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yeah, they often bring it up because the western MSM focuses on it. But whenever I hear talk about the MB on RT and AlJazeera, its usually, if not always, to say that it is not significant.

Millions of Egyptians (Muslims, Christians, atheists) rose up against their dictator. The controlled MSM and you choose to focus on the Muslim Brotherhood; considering your other comments, this is not surprising.

Fisk recently gave a good interview from Bahrain, where he described that in the all these protests religious symbols are extremely rare. These are secular revolts, people bring up Islam only to scare the west. Decades ago they scared us with communism, now its Islam.

The NY Times? I'm not surprised they would bring up religion. That is the same NY Times that provided many of the lies (Judith Miller) that brought us the Iraq war. These uprisings are clearly secular.

You must be referring to the fauxtilla.

No, I am referring to the unarmed international civilian flotilla that tried to bring desperately needed humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza who have been kept prisoners by the israelis under an long illegal blockade that has caused tremendous suffering and deaths to the Gazans while most of the world stays silent. This flotilla of unarmed civilians was brutally attacked by israeli commandos in the middle of the night in international waters, with at least 9 of these unarmed civilian humanitarians being murdered.

They know the US will have to veto it to keep the peace process alive

The israelis have so many times shown that they do not want peace, and Wikileaks has recently reconfirmed it, by demonstrating that no matter how much the Palestinians are willing to give up, the israelis will not accept.

By vetoing this resolution, the US regime has once again demonstrated the power AIPAC has on it.

The fact is that the US has strongly condemned the settlements, sent special envoys to say as much, publicly snubbed Netanyahu, offered wild economic and military packages to end them, and have made it very clear that they run contrary to the peace process.

The clearest message the US has sent to the israelis is that they can do absolutely anything they want, break any international law, commit any war crime, attack anyone (including the US) and it will be rewarded with massive financial and military aid and will be protected from the UN by American vetoes.

"The Israeli settlements established in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace."

All other UNSC members voted in favor of this resolution. The American regime is therefore responsible for the ongoing israeli war crimes. I hope the American people send a clear message to this regime on March 20th. Time for regime change in America, and I am not talking about just changing the president.

It appears Iran has now asked for permission to go through the canal. This could get interesting.

If there is ever an all-out war with Israel, those Iranian warships will be destroyed.

Yeah, you might be right. But then again, this is not an unarmed civilian humanitarian flotilla or a bunch of stone-throwing kids. Israel might get their butts kicked again.

Also, Israeli-friendly puppet leaders are quickly disappearing from the region, so Israel should start following international law and common human decency if it wants to stick around.

Again, you are comparing one case in the US with what has been going on Iran and you are mistaken.

Oh no, there are many examples. A classic one was of a student who got tasered when asked a wrong question during question period after Kerry's speech. I brought up the McGovern example because it is very recent, and it happened while Cliton was talking about Egypt shutting off cell phone service and satellite communication. You can see the video for yourself if you search Youtube for "McGovern attacked by Hilary's thugs footage".

Clearly, the US is in no position to lecture other nations about freedom of protest. Obama should slam America before slamming Iran.

What exactly are you relying on for your information? Please share with us. I think many here would be interested in reading the "real" information.

I listen and read directly from real scientists with real PhDs showing real data. Seek and you will find. Wait to be spoon-fed and you won't learn anything.

And there is a lot of BS and conspiracy that is on the internet.

Indeed, the vast majority of the internet is BS; you have to find reliable sources. The MSM is almost complete BS.

BTW, are you implying that conspiracy and BS are related? You do know that conspiracies do happen?

Anyway, was McGovern arrested when he questioned Rumsfeld? No. Was he allowed to ask his questions? Yes. There you have it. Freedom of speech.

Anyway, was 71-year-old McGovern allowed to turn around during Clinton's speech? No, the police immediately pounced on him and beat him badly.

Was he arrested when he turned around during Clinton's speech? Yes, badly hurt and bleeding, he was thrown in jail.

There you have it...

Anyway, my point all along has been to suggest that the US is in no position to lecture others about freedom of protest. That's it, that's all. I don't see why you have to continue following me around this forum with your usual fits.

Ray McGovern is not just some guy. He frequently shows up to disrupt speaking engagements of those with whom he disagrees.

Disrupt? Do you mean like when, during a question period after Rumsfeld's speech, he waited his turn and asked a question? Or in the recent example above, where he simply turned his back.

there is a time and place to protest.

Yeah, like I said, in the "free-speech zones", which are basically large cages out of view of the general public. Ah, America, land of the free!

You say "Iran has never threatened to destroy Israel" yet the loony Iranian president has said this in the past "Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated Iran's goal of "wiping Israel off the map."

I'm not in the mood to get into that AGAIN. If you choose to believe the MSM media translation or atamant's placard, fine go ahead.

In addition when Ahmadinejad said they were in the middle of an revolution the crowd shouted 'Death to the US' and 'Death to Israel'.

And what do you think the crowds shout in Israel? "Love love me do"?

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave her speech at George Washington University yesterday, condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression, 71-year-old Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes, brutalized and left bleeding in jail. She never paused speaking. When Secretary Clinton began her speech, Mr. McGovern remained standing silently in the audience and turned his back. Mr. McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. analyst for 27 years, was wearing a Veterans for Peace t-shirt.

Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, Mr. McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, “So this is America?” Mr. McGovern is covered with bruises, lacerations and contusions inflicted in the assault.

See, you do not have the right to peaceful protest in the US. Let's see what happens on March 20th.

Since they have yet to ask permission, why is Lieberman's whining news?

Israel considers Iran an existential threat because of its nuclear program, missile development, support for militants and threats to destroy Israel.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a civilian nuclear program, Iran is entitled to it since they signed the NPT and allow free inspections. Israel on the other hand...

Also nothing wrong with developing missiles, many nations and Israel do so.

Iran has expressed support for those who fight against terror and occupation. I too wish them all the best.

Iran has never threatened to destroy Israel; they have predicted the downfall of the regime occupying Jerusalem. They also stated that they would retaliate if attacked. On the other hand, Israel has destroyed Palestine and with regard to Iran, Israel "has not taken the possibility of a military strike off the table".

While they should, they don't because it does not serve the national interest of the US to do so.

Exactly! And it serves the "national interest of the US" (i.e., US corporations) to slam Iran.

The US did not support the Egyptian regime because of its freedom. They supported it because of its attitude toward the US and its policies.

Well duh! Thanks for stating the obvious. And you are right that the US does not care about lack of freedom in other nations if it suits American corporations.
