Some seem to not have noticed (or choose not to notice) that Muslims, Christians, and atheists are united in this protest for freedom.

Didn't you just tell us we should not believe the news.

No, you are mistaken. I stated "its the western MSM who are focusing on this group".

Lately, I've been watching RT News and Al Jazeera (English), much more balanced news. But in this case, I have even noticed that fact (MB not seeking power) on either BBC or CNN.

Yeah, they sound like nice peaceful people.

Yeah, they do sound like wonderful people. BTW, what is wrong with saying “the people should be prepared for war against Israel”. You do know that Israel has a habit of attacking its neighbors, so they should be prepared. They have NOT said “the people should be prepared to attack Israel”.

They have made no such claim. In fact, they have said the opposite.

You are mistaken, they have. Its all over the news.

The MSM ... focuses on what they think will catch people's attention. Religious extremists who say they are ready to rip up the peace agreement with Israel catch people's attention.

Yeah this typical zionist paranoia/propaganda does indeed catch most Americans' attention. But how can you talk about religious extremism when its clear that this protest is made up of Muslims, Christians, and atheists working together to free their country.

Last week, Mubarak's thugs attacked the protesters during prayer. Now we have Christians surrounding and protecting the Muslims during their prayer sessions.

And we have thousands of Muslims joining the Christians' Sunday Mass.

In the name of Jesus and Muhammad we unify our ranks,” Father Ihab al-Kharat said in his sermon. “We will keep protesting until the fall of the tyranny.

May God bless the Egyptian people.

But it seems to the only organization that has anything going for it is the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood themselves claim to not seek power, and the Egyptian people do not seem to consider them such a big influence. Its the western MSM who are focusing on this group. I wonder why. To give them more credibility? To scare the west? Who knows?

Does countries generally release suspected spies on bail?

You have a point. Most countries do not, but Iran often shows compassion, as with this one spy. And the US generally releases Israeli spies in secret, without bail.

How about those Russian spies that got caught in the US, they're free, aren't they?

Did anyone from Iran pay their respects at Auschwitz?

    From the article:

"[Anne-Marie Revcolevschi, head of the Aladdin Project] noted the participation of Karim Lahidji, the head of the Iranian League of Human Rights and a former top lawyer in Tehran, saying: “No one will miss out on how his presence is important.”

See, Iran does not "deny the holocaust", they just want to be able to discuss it freely.

These kids were just careless...I don't think they are spies, they were just naive and extremely careless...These kids crossed a border by accident.

So, what makes you so sure? I thought this was a closed-door court session!

sabiwabi - I hope they were spying. We need to keep an eye on the nuke arms progress of Ahmadinejad and the Islamofascist Iranian government.

We don't need spies for that. Iran signed the NPT and their facilities are open to inspections by the IAEA. Spies are needed in "countries" that are not as open as Iran.

At least these spies were caught in Iran.

FYI, Iran did not allow speakers from 'both sides'.

They certainly did. Many refused to go, but plenty of speakers at the conference were presenting the official version. I know this goes against the MSM portrayal of the conference; they prefer to focus on David Duke's attendance or Ahmadinejad's mistranslations.

Anyway, open discussion of this and other historical events is the only sane way to move on.

Spies don't need to go hiking around to get into Iran. Do they?

Hmmm, you do have a point. Real spies would get a spying visa and enter as a legitimate spy.

Lot's of people do hike in Kurdistan. It is a beautiful place to hike.

Yeah, North Korea is also said to be beautiful.

Yeah, except anti-Semitism is far more prevalent in the Muslim world than anywhere else.

They are certainly more critical of Israel, which unfortunately is counted as antisemitism by certain groups when compiling statistics.

Holocaust denial is practically lauded by Iran.

No, they simply permit open discussion of the subject. Their holocaust conference included speakers from both sides.

So does anyone here actually believe these people were really hikers?

    No.

I find their excuse very hard to believe: "They claim they were hiking in Iraq’s Kurdistan region and that if they crossed into Iran it was inadvertent."

Ok ok, I'll go with you, but why is the current president who still continuing the war, off scott free with not even the slightest bit of criticism? Much of what happened under Bush is still happening, isn't it?

Absolutely right. Obama sounds better and says different things, but his actions are just as bad.

Bush is not welcomed by Europeans, or actually by most of the world. Only groups like the United Israel Appeal enjoy his presence; I wonder why!

I don't think Bush will visit Europe much due to the protests and the risk of him being arrested and charge for war crimes.

Yes, those are of course the islamist positions.

No, those are the views of most of humanity.

Anyway, this protest is largely secular. They have the universal desire to be free.

What they should do is end the FED and the wars, and bring all their troops home, where they belong.

    Anything else is just cosmetic.

Better than having Lebanon occupied by the IDF!

Inshallah, lets hope the Egyptians get free and fair elections.

But all you supporters of the rioters start ranting about how the big bad USA is supporting a dictator were pretty silent over the last 3 decades yourselves. Only when a riot by a fraction of the population do you come out in you support of anarchy which has gotten no one ahead at all.

I for one have long been critical of the puppet dictator Mubarak.

    northlondon,

The peace treaty is still in effect, no? Search the net, and you will find many pictures of a smiling Mubarak with Netenyahoo or Olmert. Why do you think Egypt receives so much aid from the US. Mubarak is very much pro-Israeli, hopefully that will change soon enough.

As for your comment ridiculing the ballot box and the vote as a better form of democracy. I take that as your support for outright disorder and rioting in the streets to decide who forms a government and when the opposition party want power?

I criticized the current Egyptian ballot system. I don't support disorder, but I do support real democracy; sometimes you need a revolution to get that. I take it you do not support real democracy; you seem to expect citizens to shut up and put up with whatever their leader gives them.
