Yes, we wouldn't want cars that are quiet, eh? Though actually, that raises an interesting point. We're all so adapted to using our hearing as one of our safety checks when crossing a road. How will it be with superquiet electric cars? We'll have to adapt...

According to another story on this, a hi-speed charger that they may put in various locations takes only a half hour to charge. But that's still too long for even a few cars to line up for in this country...

I think there's a typo in the award name: IMB Fellow?

    Moderator: It has been corrected.

Absolutely unacceptable that the students should be at school after hours for any reason at all. I understand that he might be a very committed student but that just invites trouble.

And as for the a--hole driver, he deserves every punishment he gets.

I don't think this is terribly different to the stories of exhausted elderly killing their bedridden spouses. The guy was probably unable to put up much of a fight.

"“There has been a succession of prime ministers in recent years but I’m not sure if they were material or figures who can symbolize Japan,” said Ishihara."

Hahah. Yes, you'd be scraping the bottom of the barrel getting a J-pollie up.

How about some talents? They could offer one another yakitori and say it's oissshiiiii

What a bizarre act. What did this person THINK was going to happen? That she could just get herself a Kawaii Newborn (TM) and take it home?

I can understand taking off in drive instead of reverse, but if you're pulling in to a space, how could you hit the gas instead of the brake...?

How can her former agency tell her what to do? If it's a paid and legal show, why would they have a leg to stand on? The contracts are already over, unless there's something she signed saying 'I refuse to ever get naked', can't she do as she pleases?

I'm suspecting her former agency has a stack of swimsuit magazines they're afraid will stop selling if people start getting a better view of her... Talentos are used for such inane drivel in this country that they can't be claiming she's going to lower the bar!

I think that story of a passenger who becomes a puddle or some sort of wraith is well known in Japan. I have a a Crayon Shin-chan comic where Shin-chan is the cab driver, and he starts telling the story of that ghost girl to his passenger (who is the ghost). He out-weirds the ghost though, and it leaves.

Anyone have any ghost stories in their neck of the woods? I have a friend who had to steer her car around a group of people walking down a country road, and when she checked her mirrors they were gone. She and her passenger agreed not to speak about it but to draw pictures of what they saw when they got home... and they were (dun dun dunnn) the same...

The problem with turning your house into a padded cell is that the kid will never get any boo-boos indoors, but then going out into the big bad world, they'll suddenly have to learn the common sense that comes from making errors.

Have you seen those parents that float behind their children , about two feet away, ready to catch them should they fall? Awwwwwwwkwarrrd

Caring for the infirm takes a lot of patience and understanding. Are the unemployed masses, disgruntled from getting the axe in their current jobs, going to be able to muster that kind of sensitivity?

Yeah. How many people know someone or know of someone who managed to pull boiling water onto themselves as a child? I think my partner's parent did that once and got hot water in the ear, losing hearing for life.

I'm super careful in my kitchen even as an adult. If only Mum had closed the doors before she went out... Not that she should have gone at all.

    Crimson,
