I also do have to take some offense of the name calling here on this thread in regards to Mr. Cain. Chump, Idiot etc. Black Americans have the same intelligence as white Americans. Sad to see posters still stuck on that Black Americans have an inferior intellect.

The Media lynching is now completed. Interesting that they finally got around and "vetted" a black Presidential candidate if you can call smears and tabloid journalism a vetting. The last black Presidential candidate sure got a free pass from them. Anyone know Obama's college grades yet?

Ironic, the only media you have complained about in the past is Fox news in its coverage of Obama. I have never heard you complain of media coverage of Obama from anywhere else. In the tank and knee deep in carry his water except for Fox news.

My view it's pretty simple. If you have a media that is in the tank for Obama and you wanted to push the guys you really want the Republicans to nominate to run against him who would you choose? Romney as number one of course. He's wall street, millionaire, author of the blueprint for Obama care. Shoot he's the perfect guy for Obama to run against. Romney can't slam Obama care and Obama's team is going to use class warfare to motivate his base. Romney's a perfect central casting foil for him.
Second choice Gingrich, the guy's got more baggage in his record that you could fill an entire empty airport with. So the media's been laying off them. They'll get the knives out after whoever gets the nomination.
Cain was a real threat and had to be dealt with through Obama's sympathetic media. Heck i'm not sure we could even call it media any more more tabloid bgossip than anything else anymore. Ironic though, I guess the media now thinks its okay to go national Enquirer and vet a conservative black guy. Liberal black guys still get a pass though. I'm still waiting to find out about Obama's college grades. I knows Cain's, media found out about 5 minutes after he started rising in the polls,,,,,,,C average at Morehouse college by the way.

Actually bookbag, if the U.S reduces defense spending the nations under our security umbrella they will have to ramp up their defense expenditures to make up the difference. Japan would have to increase her defense spending for instance as a percentage of her GDP just to maintain her security. There is a reason why the U.S spends more than any other nation, our allies benefit from our security our defense expenditures provide and we benefit by having reliable allies that we can trade with in the global economy. Take our leadership role away and our allies will spend more for self defense and heighten the prospect that our current strategic alliances will start to fade in the future and also increase the prospect of war once again between nations that were once friends if more malevolent forces start to hold sway again in a nations political life.......Japan and Germany would be prime examples of this prior to WW 2.

Respectfully disagree. The Supercommittee was a hardfought compromise between the Republicans and President Obama and the Democrats in the first place. It was the only way that the debt ceiling could be raised with approval of the Republicans, who were totally against piling on more debt on the national credit card. The Republicans had plenty at stake here for the supercommittee to do the very job it was suppose to do mainly to cut the out of control spending. The Democrats are the ones who had everything to gain and nothing to lose by stalling and never offering any serious proposals to actually cut spending. They can demonize the Republicans as favoring the rich, playing the class warfare card to the hilt. Bet on the Republicans never agreeing to manditory massive cuts in Defense spending giving the Democrats leverage to not have to cut any programs at all and most importantly paint the Republicans as extremist do-nothings that just can't compromise for the good of country. The Democrats are the reason this failed and are playing crass politics not the Republicans. The Republicans are going to feel the heat from their own constituents for agreeing to the supercommittee in the first place and sticking their necks out thinking the Democrats were actually serious about cutting spending.

I'll answer seriously. Do you really blame them right now? Do you have any idea what tax rates are going to be in the future? Are they going to go up after all or will Congress finally set the bar and say this what the rates are going to be period, so people that are inclined to invest would actually do it instead of holding on to their working capital so they don't get nailed with a huge tax hit latter and wipe out any potential profit gain on their investment. Health care reform, small business has no clue as how hard this is going to effect them other than if you have more than then 50 employees your going to get nailed with a surcharge to pay for it and nobody really knows how much that is going to be. So what do small businesses do? They stay below 50 employees stagnating hiring all through-out the economy. And who can blame them??? Would you hire or start a business if you didn't know what your manditory expenditures or going to be, your future employee health care costs are going to be? You need that basic information just to set what would be your profit margin in the first place to set your prices for the goods and services your business going to provide. Some poster mentioned it isn't rocket science, he's right it isn't. get Government out of the way level the playing field with a permanent reliable tax structure that wipes out ALL the loopholes and repeal the monstrosity that is Obama-care and reform health care through market and consumer reforms. Then you will see the economy take off, jobs created and most importantly real economic growth as confidence returns and people aren't afraid to invest back into the United States economy again.

There are other ways to increase tax revenue rather than raising rates on those who happen to be in the higher income brackets and playing the class warfare bull. Increasing the tax base by real private sector job creation would do the trick quite nicely. As a matter fact it would lower the financial burden on the Government in its current outlays to deal with the problem. The Democrats and Obama instead of a pro growth private sector model along the lines of Mr. Cain's 999 plan, has a rather different vision. I call Obama's........ Mine, Mine, Mine Tax plan.

Crap reporting.
Businessman Herman Cain, accused of sexually harassing four subordinates more than a decade ago, didn’t address the accusations which he has denied vigorously. But he acknowledged not being home enough during his career’s meteoric rise to the top of a national restaurant chain.
Repeat the smear and ignore what he really teared up about.
In a rare moment, Cain, who typically sticks to displays of humor and defiance on the campaign trail, choked up when talking about his wife, Gloria, and the struggle he faced with cancer.
When Cain received his diagnosis, he said, he told his wife "I can do this." She replied "WE can do this," he said of his wife of 42 years, who accompanied her husband to the forum for her first campaign appearance in Iowa this weekend.

To answer your question.
“What do I read on a daily basis?” Cain said. “Obviously I read newspaper publications. We read some of the stuff on the Web…”
Pressed further, Cain elaborated that he reads the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and his local newspaper.

Just fir the record It wasn't his private security.
Afterwards, Lt. Joe McHugh of the Coral Springs Police Department identified the man as one of his officers and defended his actions. "The reporter was running up along the side of the bus with no identification on identifying herself as a reporter," McHugh said. "So the officer stuck his arm out to prevent her from getting to Mr. Cain and at which time he was successful."

rickyvee,
The NRA statement;
“Based upon the information currently available, we can confirm that more than a decade ago, in July 1999, Mr. Bennett’s client filed a formal internal complaint, in accordance with the Association’s existing policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Mr. Herman Cain disputed the allegations in the complaint. The Association and Mr. Bennett’s client subsequently entered into an agreement to resolve the matter, without any admission of liability. Mr. Cain was not a party to that agreement.
He was notified he did dispute and he was then out of the process, standard procedure in the handling of these type of allegations.

Not true and unethical. The person accused in the complaint has to stay out of the process completely once a formal complaint has been filed. This is to prevent any retaliation on the accuser and to ensure that the complaint is investigated in a manner that would preclude bias to determine the legitimacy of the allegation and what ever outcome or agreement the parties come to. This is why Human Resources departments are the experts on the matter and it is always handled by them.
