Not really a success for him or for a 100 percent American made Auto industry.
2009
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Chrysler LLC will not repay U.S. taxpayers more than $7 billion in bailout money it received earlier this year and as part of its bankruptcy filing.
This revelation was buried within Chrysler's bankruptcy filings last week and confirmed by the Obama administration Tuesday.
And after the Bankruptcy Chrysler then ended up being bought out by FIAT at a dirt cheap fire sale price, who then got busy and turned thenew FIAT Chrysler company around.......American made bail-out that ended up with Italian management benefits.

The endorsement of the extremely wealthy Trump could draw greater attention to Romney’s fortune, a day after Romney said in a CNN interview Wednesday: “I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich. They’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95% of Americans who are struggling.”
The Media has a narrative and it is the Media that wants to draw greater attention to Romney's fortune and they will use anything they can to do it including using Trump as just another excuse to continuely to point it out.

Have to admit Mitt is a little behind on getting the word out that he's more concerned right now about America's Middle Class and that is his priority..
For 2012, White House casts President Obama as warrior for the middle class By Amie Parnes - 12/29/11 06:00 AM ET
President Obama’s latest makeover casts him as a middle-class warrior — a campaign theme his team thinks will resonate with voters in 2012.
After struggling to find a winning message, the president has amped up his role as defender of the middle class and been rewarded with his highest bounce in the polls in months.
Obama' beat him to it in his latest "makeover".

The exact quote in the news business this is known as context.
"I'm not concerned about the very poor," he said. "There's a safety net there, and if it needs repair I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich, they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the heart of America, the 95% of Americans who are right now struggling."

What was his exact quote? Here it is:
"I'm not concerned about the very poor," the Republican presidential candidate said on CNN Wednesday morning. "There's a safety net there, and if it needs repair I'll fix it.
That is not his exact quote.......From the Washington Post (who also to its credit gave a balanced article on him)
In an interview with CNN Wednesday morning that should have been a Florida victory lap, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney made a fumble that could give rivals an attack ad sound bite. Asked about his economic plan, Romney said repeatedly that he was not concerned with very poor Americans, but was focused instead on helping the middle class. Romney explained that he was confident that food stamps, housing vouchers, Medicaid and other assistance would keep the poor afloat — he pledged to fix holes in that safety net “if it needs repair.” He repeated past statements that his main focus is the middle class because those people, in his opinion, have been hardest hit by the recession (President Obama also has focused many of his efforts on the middle class). But Romney’s awkward phrasing could give fuel to critics who argue that he does not empathize with the poorest Americans.

A actual fair and balanced article, talk about a nice change for once from the Media.
In a CNN interview, Romney served up a sound bite—“I’m not concerned about the very poor”—which is sure to be used in attack ads and plays into a narrative that he is an uncaring, out of touch multi-millionaire.
In the full quote, Romney says that the poor can take advantage of a social safety net which he will fix, that he does not care for the rich either but is most worried about the economic plight of the middle classes.
But Romney’s enemies are certain to rip the comment out of that context in the vibrant heat of a presidential election.
I'm actually impressed with the reporting here.

I assume you're also opposed to the measures that kept GM and Chrysler alive.
My above post is in response to Laguna's statement above for clarity.
Apologies in advance for any confusion.

As long as the price tag just keeps going up you better believe it. I'm thinking at least 40 billion in losses to the taxpayer by the time this "success story" is over with by the Obama administration.

Treasury ups auto bailout loss estimate
Washington -The U.S. Treasury Department boosted its estimate of government losses in the $85 billion auto bailout by $170 million.
In the government's latest report to Congress this month, the Treasury upped its estimate to $23.77 billion, up from $23.6 billion.
Last fall, the government dramatically boosted its forecast of losses on the rescues of General Motors Co., Chrysler Group LLC and their finance units from $14 billion to $23.6 billion.

Read private venture capital as opposed to public taxpayer money where we all are on the hook instead of investors who take their chances with their own money. Also read bankrupt and good luck for the U.S government getting my taxpayer money back, which is par for the course because they didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted my taxpayer dollars to be "invested" in this FAILED green economy venture in the first place. But I guess I shouldn't complain, after all Government knows best on how to spend, spend, spend our way to prosperty.
Just let me know when those 65,000 green jobs finally get created that President Obama promised. Folks could really use them right now.

Very true but only if Government is playing with the people's money and picking the winners and losers and trying to create markets when private industry has already decided the market really doesn't exist.
From last Thursday:
The parent company of an electric car battery maker that received more than $100 million in government funding from the Obama administration has filed for bankruptcy protection, the company announced Thursday.
Alex Sorokin, the CEO for lithium-ion battery manufacturer Ener1, said the company suffered when demand for the batteries dropped as fewer Americans than expected opted for electric cars.

Please pass that on to President Obama and also to tell him to quit using other peoples money (the taxpayer) also as it makes all of poorer.
A $38.6 billion loan guarantee program that the Obama administration promised would create or save 65,000 jobs has created just a few thousand jobs two years after it began, government records show.
The program — designed to jump-start the nation’s clean technology industry by giving energy companies access to low-cost, government-backed loans — has directly created 3,545 new, permanent jobs after giving out almost half the allocated amount, according to Energy Department tallies.

a former Massachusetts governor and millionaire venture capitalist .......We'll be seeing him associated as a"millionare venture capitalist " a lot more in the future in describing Mitt Romney rather than any of his accomplishments as Governor Of Massachusetts from the media by the way, it fits the class warfare meme the Democrats plan on running on this cycle.

Disagree, They are doing Mitt Romney the biggest favor they could for the man. If he is in fact the Republican nominee the grilling he is going to get from the media is going to be merciless. He is 'wall street" in his business background and and anyone who doesn't believe he is going to painted as an out of touch wall street elitist, job detroying venture capitalist by the Media in the general election hasn't been paying attention to how the Media operates. He also has taken away one of the most potent attack lines a Republican candidate has on President Obama. He is in fact the godfather for Obama's healthcare reform law. The law that inspired the Tea party protests in the first place and mobilized them to become activists in their protests against it passing. The law that is still highly unpopular with the majority of the American people. Being grilled on that is also doing him a favor at this stage to find out where he really stands on it. Is he in fact going to roll it back or cede the issue to Obama?
I'm glad the "radical" Tea Party types are putiing him through the ringer. He's going to being a tough damn candidate for Obama to beat afterwards having to go through the experience now befor the Media gets it chance at him latter. He'll be able to deal with it then as a man who will fight back which is what the general Republican electorate is looking for now.

Fantasy:
Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice.
Pretty much describes the tea party members.
Reality:
In a New York Times/CBS News poll released in April 2010, the 18 percent of Americans who identified themselves as Tea Party supporters tended to be Republican, white, male, married and older than 45. They were wealthier and better-educated than the general public.

Actually there is very compelling reasons to maintain military property, personnel and families in Japan just as it was in 1950. First and foremost North Korea. If the North does invade the South it will be with massive ground troops and the South Korea military along with the American forces there in place can would fight a holding action to bog them down but will not be able to go on any offensive operations it would be a stalemate. But with our forces in Japan we would be able move our troops based here as soon as the bell is rung to support our South Korean allies and be turn the tide of the North Korean invading forces almost immediately. This changes the whole dynamic and also North Korea's calculus on attempting another invasion in the South.
Secondly....Tawain. Same dynamic at play with regards to China and her using a military invasion of the country.
Third......Possible Future Conflicts. Iran closes the Straits of Hormuz. The fastest quickest response would be from our forces called "The Tip of The Spear" based here in Japan. Just as they were first on station and taking the fight to the Taliban and Al Queda when they were foolish enough to attack the U.S.

I'm sure the good Doctor also included children of minorities not just of those with caucasion offspring in his research. As we all know even minorities would also have a percentage of children with low intelligence and would exhibit the same socially conservative ideologies, which explains why they dominate "tea party" rallies......or this "study" is a load of.......well..stuff.
