What an absolute monster. Hopefully this guy never sees the light of day outside of a prison cell.

This is a very, very small tiny step. Now, everyone here is going to scream spousal abuse and that is going to be what keeps those parents from their children. Always a loophole to jump through. Plus the courts are not going to just change their direction and start siding with males and foreigners on this issue.

I hope to see Hashimoto out of politics soon, but such a thing I fear is not going to happen. He is trying to become popular by stroking nationalism and giving historical events a sad excuse for occurring. He is a demagogue and will prosper in Japan for a very long time. He is not interested in helping his country out. He is too short-sighted and doing what a lot of politicians do. Looking out for himself and not his country.

I find this snake like. Nobody should be able to take advantage of the damage that man has done to this earth. And once you allow them in, do you think they are actually going to exit? Hardly not. How shameful!!!

I dont think President Obama had anything to do with it. Rodman is a knucklehead just like he has always been. He couldn't even really explain his rationale very well at all and made himself look stupid on TV the other day. Keep him in North Korea and let him see how life really is.

What a bunch of hypocritical nonsense. First of all, she is 20 years old. Second, this is stupid beyond belief because the company sure has no qualms about putting them up in magazines in their bikinis in middle teens to be locked at by a bunch of perverted old men to look at on the train and to drool over. Third there girls are not that attractive at all to deserve anytime on TV as well. They look like just every other girl wlaking down the street. And last....

and must never disabuse their legions of male fans that they might one day stand a chance with their fantasy woman.

What kind of sick nonsense is that? Oh and lets not forget that this was her own doing. YEAH, RIGHT. NObody buys that nonsense. The company has clearly overstepped their bounds of normal in this. I cant get over how she could be demoted for THIS, but they can put pictures up of her in her bikini at such a young age in magazines.

How in the hell can you do something as barbaric as gang beat someone? Such cowards. Hopefully, they will be put in jail and never come out.

Excuse me. I meant to say 99% of the crime is committed by natives, not 97%. 3% is the military population of Okinawa.

BLOW THINGS OUT OF PROPORTION TO FURTHER FEAR MONGERING.

Figures from the Okinawa prefectural police show the percentage of crimes committed by this group has fallen from a high in 1973 of 6.9% of all crimes to 0.8% in 2011. Last year, the group accounted for around 3% of Okinawa’s total population.

THREE PERCENT! Now that is not even news. What is sad is a bunch of people are trying to promote fear mongering and ignoring the elephant in the room of the fact that 97% of the crime is being committed by natives. So, ignore the natives who commit most of the crimes and focus on the measly 3%.

And then we have Yuri with her standard US military is dangerous and abusive of the local natives. To hear you and CajunH20 tell it, the military is down there just waiting to abuse the natives and foaming at the mouth to commit crimes and completely lacking any kind of self discipline. SELF DISCIPLINE which is a mainstay of US military logic. Well, I don't know what military you were in Cajun, but you and I MUST HAVE BEEN in different militaries. I have no idea where you got that info at all. I was down there. I have no idea what you are talking about and it saddens me that someone like yourself who SAYS that he was in the military would say such a ridiculous thing. Thanks for demonizing us though. That will surely help the situation.

And for the rest. Congrats on ignoring the numbers. 97% of the crimes are committed by the NATIVE POPULATION. But you wanna make a HUGE DEAL out of the 3%. Thanks for demonizing us and ignoring real issues. Let me remind you guys again. NINETY-SEVEN PERCENT NATIVE!

I saw this Japanese reporter ask him a question in English about some Japanese soccer player. Bolt looked at her very politely, but looked like he wanted to ask her, "Why would you ask me that question." Which is actually very common because every time some famous person comes here they have to try to get the person to give them compliments about Japan in one way or the other. Why is it every time a foreign super star comes over here the Japanese press have to ask them questions about how they feel about certain Japanese people or foods?

I am sure that the Japanese don't need fake compliments or feigned interest in their country, people, food or culture. So, get off it. They are here to celebrate something that they are doing or have done not give compliments to make you feel better about your country. I just don't get it. Everything does not have to be turned into something that is about Japan. It seems all to narcissistic and ridiculously petty. It is actually quite irritating.

    @VAST!!!!

@sandie. Have to disagree. Laws that try and obligate restaurants/staff are wrong. If someone drinks too much and does something stupid, it's on them, not the restaurant. Are you going to hold a liquor store responsible for selling a customer a bottle of whiskey too, if that person then drinks it in the parking lot and drives drunk?

I have to disagree totally with that. If you know they are drinking and you let them get into their car you should be severely punished. There is nothing wrong at all with making people responsible for what they sell, especially if they KNOW someone is going to be driving. And they should ask just in case for the public's well being. Also, yes, if you sell someone a bottle of whiskey and you know they are drinking it in parking lot and you don't do anything about it YOU SHOULD BE PUNISHED.

Forgive me, but I think we should punish people that sell alcohol to someone whom they know will be drinking and driving. It is way better than punishing the innocent bystander who doesn't know anything and gets run over, because someone choose to make money.

It is called being responsible for your actions. Especially if there is a chance that someone could get seriously hurt. Remember innocent person over profit any day of the week.

There is no need to so something that stupid as flying kites near those planes. You might just make an accident if you are not lucky. How dumb can you get? I used to kind of understand their feelings, but with actions like these, I want to remain insensitive to their plight.
