Sure, in the event there is a lot of adrenalin flowing and there is a spontaneous, youthful response. 6 months later, in a non-competitive/relaxed environment, Phelps had more time to think through his actions.

It is very hypocritical that the IOC head can be upset at Usain Bolt for celebrating as he crossed the finish line at the Olympics but excuses Phelps' current situation as youthful exuberance... Why such a big difference in the way they are treated?

It seems to be just located just about where the navel would be, although I doubt that's the real purpose.

It just started today but usually the figure they quote for number of visitors is 1-2 million. I've never seen that many people there at one time in years gone by though :-)

Looking forward to the reporting on news tonight too :-) Good that the "Hantuchova pair" got this far but the Williams sisters are too good. My only question is how Serena can manage to play such top-level tennis for several consecutive days in the Melbourne heat even though the stadium roof was closed. If she wins tomorrow's singles finals, then she'll be the world's #1 again and would have deserved it.

Even if the popular opinion with JT posters is that there is no Christ, it doesn't change the reality that He does exist. When there are popular opinions about many things being right (like the Iraq war), only for that opinion to change a couple of years later, does it mean that it wasn't right in the first place? We humans are fickle and our opinions do not have any impact on reality!

Good point Vagante. More human interaction is needed.

Not good. Growing up doing one's own chores or letting one's children do their share of the chores is one of the key ways that RESPONSIBILITY can be taught/learnt. Of course, the same applies whether or not you have human domestic helpers (not "servants"). Children should be taught responsibility around the house because certain things will be taken for granted later on. According to an article I saw yesterday, the Obama parents said that their daughters will still need to do chores around the (White) house and that is good, regardless of status.

It's nice of them to be so concerned about the mess from their own accident that they would go early the next morning to clean it up. It's sad though that they weren't aware of the option to inform the relevant authorities and let a professional clean-up crew deal with it.

This is sad. I don't know what the circumstances were in this case but it is difficult to understand why someone would be out with a baby at 3am. Unless the accident happened a few hours earlier and it was just discovered at 3:15am.

There's no reason for a phone to be priced that high. Key things it should be able to do are make and receive calls and send and receive sms/emails. It is wrong to be forking out that amount of money on something that is basically just a tool.
