The article lacks detail. How were they discovered? Was it witnessed by someone? Did she manage to climb out and escape? Did he go to the nearest police station to confess? Details please.

The idea is good and if it works without glitches when it scans characters, then that's good. However, one disadvantage is that it can't scan kanjis that are on billboards or other signs that one sees when walking/driving...

My point has always been and continues to be that regardless of the sport, if someone is performing without cheating and gets good times, they should be acknowledged. If they are found at some point in the future to have cheated, shame and disgrace will naturally follow...and rightfully so. But whether or not you want to believe it, there are those who don't cheat and yet they perform well. In the corporate world, there are many who succeed without stepping on other people and they should be set as examples for others to follow. We shouldn't tear down their names because we "believe" that they have hidden skeletons in the closet that they are trying to hide? I know this is off the main topic of this article but I strongly believe that the same principle applies.

I do not trust the accomplishments of any and all of the top runners in the world in the 100, 200 and 400 meter sprints and hurdles, regardless of ethnicity and nationality. Cheating to find an advantage has been the name of the game for a very long time

You haven't anwered the question to say why swimming should be considered any differently from track and field. Also, in your opinion, what is the "best" time that the top runners in the world are allowed to have without cheating...since you seem to doubt the performances of "all of the top runners in the world in the 100, 200 and 400m sprints and hurdles"?

Track and Field is one of the few sports that Jamaica competes in at the Olympic level-and this is no criticism of the nation of 3 million people-but they have as much or more pressure to succeed as anyone else in the world at what they do.

By the way, if you knew jamaicans the way I do, you would realize that they love their sprinters when they do well and they love them even when they don't do well. Already people are saying they're disappointed with Asafa for not medalling but they believe he can come back and prove himself.

Pathat, I agree...you did criticize the US and other countries' athletes who have been caught taking steroids but why not acknowledge that now it may be a case of those who have taken "roids" having been rooted out and now those who are "natural" having their time to shine? There has been lots of testing on jamaican sprinters over the past weeks by IOC, WADA, etc...even leading Asafa Powell to complain about the amount of blood being taken just before his event. By the way, what is your issue with track and field that doesn't apply to swimming?

Pathat's comments are truly pathetic. Solid home-grown coaching in natural environments are showing up as being more rewarding than going on track scholarships to the US. I was waiting for similar comments about Phelps but instead Pathat said that "Phelps is the greatest olympic champion". It's lame to be selective in who one accuses. Phelps has more opportunity to access undetectable agents than the boys and girls of the Caribbean but if Phelps is clean, then I'd say he is the greatest swimmer of all time. Why doesn't Pathat readily acknowledge track talent in this way? Is it because the US isn't winning?

he is not the greatest olympian of all time. there is a good article on bbc that comments on this too.(http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/08/nationalaquaticscentre_beiji.html). When you consider sports with facilities and coaching that are accessible to a wider proportion of persons worldwide, someone from track and field or football would be more likely to get that title.

If he's doing it clean, then he's really good. Nobody talks about the possibility of him being on drugs though...

I briefly toyed with the thought of getting an Iphone but then I head from someone who got one that there it is mandatory that one gets the monthly unlimited data package...that helped me decide not to get it. I think after a few weeks of it though, I'd get tired of playing with it.

Applicants need to pay a $7,495 fee plus 70% of the cost of meals in order to get a "chance" to win a $15,000 trip? I'm for adventure, but I think it would be better to take a trip by one's self and explore the same countries.

Tyson Gay's comments: "I honestly think we were on the same rhythm, but his stride pattern was longer, and he was covering more ground [than Gay was] with every stride."

Pathat, I don't know what sports you like but world records are made to be broken. Your comment clearly says that "Nobody can run a 9.72 100m without cheating." You are entitled to your opinion but it doesn't mean that it is a correct opinion to have. Maybe someone with a similar mindset 40 years ago said "Nobody can run a sub 10s 100m without cheating." What would you have said to that person? Bolt has been tested 6 times for the year already and both he and Powell train in Jamaica where they develop their raw talent. There are those who actually work hard and get the rewards of their labour. Let's give them credit for that when it happens. Congrats to Usain Bolt, and if in future there is some other scandal, then I'm sure that his name will be brought down. By the way, his coach said that Bolt doesn't even want to take Vitamin C! because he is afraid of getting anything into his system that could cause him to fail a test.

I am not saying that it isn't possible that someone from Jamaica would cheat, but Bolt has set records at the Junior level before and he has the height advantage (6ft 4in) that would give him a natural advantage of a longer stride once he reaches his drive phase. He can't be faulted for having that height advantage, can he? Oh, and Asafa Powell is also tall, but not as tall as Bolt.

Jamaican athletes have probably been tested more than many others over the years, especially since they traditionally do well in Track.

    > Why should we believe this legitimate?......Nobody can run a 9.72 100m without cheating. The Jamaicans will get caught. It is simply a matter of time. Enjoy it while you can, Usain Bolt. >

Pathat, first, the IAAF's website says, as it always does, "*a World record subject to the usual ratification procedures"

Secondly, I guess that all athletes who break a world record should be considered cheats then. How about in 1968 when the first fully automatic timing sub-10 world record time of a 'stunning' 9.95s was set, then all the other 9.9's after that? Who gives you the right to determine what can be run without cheating? Just because it hasn't been done yet doesn't mean it can't.

It will be great to see the rivalry between Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt over the next few months/years. They are good friends and both train locally in Jamaica but are very serious when it comes to their races. It's good to see that the 2 fastest men in the world are Jamaicans!
