Hmm, US went to war with Iraq because of its links with Bin Laden and its Nuke program of which both were proven to be incorrect and thus no need to go to war based on those reasons, while seemingly defending Iran. US is now wanting western nations to stop buying Iranian oil which the US does not depend on itself as it gets most of its oil from Canada. What is the real agenda? Maybe Iran wanted to change the oil currency from US$ to Euros which is a speculated reason why US went to war with Sadam.

Hi spidapig, I never said management did any sabotage, how did you read that into the post? It is possible for management to use half truths in their smear campaign against the unions. Surely both sides do it. Any way got a bit off topic now.

Surely that's what it is but the question still stands. Wheres the money coming from? Surely this whole action by the CEO was not dreampt up over night. Its also a little hard to believe that workers would tamper with items that would jeopardize safety and that unions would endorse that action. Its believable that disgruntled individuals would do this or management has used half truths to fabricate this kind of story to defame the unions infront of the public.

Now that no more industrial action can take place and the cloud of further strike action has lifted

As I said before striking in Oz is illegal without asking mom (Not a personal slur spidapig). I guess we can see if they are really fair dinkum about their rights and as a whole and hand in their resignations. As I recall there is also an act to deal with that scenario making it illegal.

Plenty of money for bonuses, exec pay rises and now free tickets but not enough to pay the people who made it a reputable airline in the first place. Wheres the money coming from? They mustn't have much after all the terrible rolling strikes that were said to be costing so much, or does this mean that despite the cost of union action they still managed to make large profits?

spidapig I am aware there is a process, your not the only person in the world who knows these things, but it defeats the purpose of having the freedom to strike if any person has a grievance. They have been ordered by the courts back to work essentially depriving them of their rights to their opinions. The company boasts profits earlier so isn't it fair that the people who work there share in the profits? The difference between a lockout and stopping all the planes is semantics. Its the same thing. Its like the joke where the kid says "I'm not pulling the cats tail, I'm just holding it, the cats doing the pulling"

I'm not wrong, you just don't agree with me. I am sure there are many others also but there are many who would.

You shouldn't take any thing you read on these boards personally or as a personal attack.

So as I said before, it is illegal to strike in Oz (unless you ask your mom for spidapig). I wonde if Joyce acted in a protected action??. So much for a democratic country.

There are many who don't earn 60K/year and even then take out tax and then consider GST and then put interest rates for those who need to borrow money to buy homes and cars and you end up with under paid. One could also conclude that since this strike action is protected, they have a legitimate claim to strike. The whole idea of a person not having the right to say as an individual without the permission of a group that they are unfairly treated and are not going to work those conditions is ridiculous. May be I should rephrase my original comment, striking without asking the system is illegal.

There is a mechanism for striking but simply the fact that people have to ask to strike is not democratic. From the article it does not appear that the flight attendants are striking but baggage handlers etc. I also know Qantas employees and they are no way earning the 1000s that the flight attendants are being said to be earning. If a company is loosing money every week, where does the performance of that company vindicate a huge pay rise for Joyce? So go figure, there's no money to pay workers but there's money to pay give fat pay increases for under performing CEOs.

Spidapig, you've got to be kidding? Oz workers are seriously under payed in relation to taxes they pay and interest rates make it near impossible to live in Oz. Also striking is illegal in Oz and you can go to jail for it so where does that leave the worker? It leaves them nearly powerless to demand more money and conditions while the executives are giving themselves outrageous pay increases. Most ozzies don't even realize they are living in a Socialist country that is labeled democratic. I hope the workers get a fair go. Even as a customer QANTAS ripps you off, they get you to pay full QANTAS fairs then code share you onto crappy JETSTAR with people paying 1/3 the fare. The worker here surely have a legitimate complaint.

Agree that Yahoo Auctions is far better than eBay and yes I have used both extensively. Ebay probably thought they could just come in an use their big company profile and money to blow the opposition away only to find that business doesn't always work like that.

Bonus fact—another attribute of the magic underwear is its ability to “absorb the body odor of middle-aged and elderly men,” something Goldwin says it might dial down when advertising to women.

Is this really correct that older men smell more than younger men? I saw TV show that set out to prove the exact opposite kind of convincingly. Certailnly grubby old men do smell after drinking with buddies but there are far more younger guys who smell of BO more. It makes more sence that young guys smell more while working off all their testorone induced energy. Hmm sound like this whole strory has many unverified "FACTS" .

Spot on mojibake. That was what the Swiss did with the Euro (EUR/CHF). They wanted people/ investors to do what they were doing. The unfortunate thing for them is that it worked to a point but there was a point at which the EUR fell against the CHF and has just continued to fall from that point on. The reallity is that even a cenbtral bank cannot over come the power of the market.

It could be a good move on her part to not get diluted into the Japanese TV system. Look at SMAP who as a band now do cooking shows etc on TV dressed in concierge uniforms, what the heck is that?. I would agree with any musician not being dragged into that, real musos never die they often look that way though.
