If oldsters are being denied their independence due to their drivers licenses being revoked/taken away, then others need to step up and provide alternative transportation for them in addition to the public transit system. When your mind is still sound and you are still active, no matter the age, having your independence denied is one of the hardest changes to accept. It breaks your spirit in a way that little else can.

Just curious - can anyone tell where the sections of the map depict which have been puzzled-pieced together on the office wall behind Mr. Mizohata? It looks like a map showing coastline somewhere to me, anyway. Thanks.

My take is that Il Divo, a Simon Cowell creation, is a very successful singing group in the US and internationally. I'd love to attend one of their sold-out concerts but the ticket prices are a bit out of my range. Besides producing a beautiful sound with their combined voices, they sing in multiple languages: French, Italian, English, Swiss, etc. - nice variety.

Hey, lighten up, everyone. I'm with selfish above - just enjoy the international eye candy and call it a day. And if you haven't ever heard Il Divo sing, go to YouTube immediately to savor the group's incredible talent! Almost as good as chocolate ;)

So what's the Super Cool Biz look for women going to be this summer? Or will this more casual, more comfortable look only pertain to men?

Go Hiromi is hardly a "one hit wonder" plus he's still got quite a fan base who will gladly buy a ticket or two just to see him perform live. Me for one.

I'm glad to see that Saijo Hideki is still a vibrant celebrity and popular on the "red carpet" in Japan. I remember swooning over him when he first became a super star over 30 years ago when I was still a young girl. Ahhhh - the sweetness of youth!!

At age 71, wouldn't "former" rock musician be more accurate? As for the so-called girlfriend, maybe she's more of a caregiver? It does sound like a scary situation, none-the-less.

So a Navy SEAL walks into a bar and orders a bin Laden: two shots and a splash of water. (I'm sorry - I couldn't resist!)

During trying times, each person finds strength and the will to move forward in different ways. To the usual naysayers, please try not to be so critical. Healing comes in many forms and all forms have value.

Why wasn't this article filed under the Business or even Sports category, instead of the Entertainment category? Just wondering... I found "Freakonomics" very enlightening when I read it several years ago.

I'm so sorry that the victim's adult daughter felt so overwhelmed with caring for her father 24/7 (assuming that was the case). There are so many unknown variables here to be able to fairly access the situation. May they both rest in peace.

All this past month I've been wondering how many of the folks who didn't or couldn't make it to higher ground, intentionally made a choice to stay put in their homes because the sheer magnitude of the earthquake told them that this WAS the Big One. And maybe some just thought that Life post such a huge earthquake wouldn't be worth living. I would never question, fault or judge anyone who made this choice. Isn't a bit of fatalism part of the Japanese psyche or spirit? Of course, we'll never know the truth to this. And many would believe, that life and death, in the end, it's all in God's hands anyway.

Well, since Lawson is not a non-profit entity but a for-profit business, this is perfectly to be expected. I wouldn't be surprised if, at the end of the day, Lawson's ends up operating these moblie units at a loss. Will there be more than one vehicle to serve the entire region? Good luck!

It's funny how most posters seem to assume the deceased young woman was with a man - she could have been with a woman and the games the two might have been playing went all wrong. Just sayin'...Regardless, may she rest in peace.
