They need to recognize mental health issues. Modern medication for depression has been around for a long time. Most of these medications are illegial in Japan. (though not in Europe or the USA). It is a big problem.

David, They are catching whales under the pretense of research. They don't publish papers in any scientific journals. If the rules changed to have them throw the meat in the sea after they caught the whales they would fight the rule change tooth and nail.

If the "research" were true research we would see papers in scientific journals. (none) If it were true research they wouldn't need to save the meat for canning. Throw the meat back in the sea. Oh, but that would be against the rules; hmm, I wonder who wrote the rules.
