I recommend not to prise Gorbachov and El'tsin too much being in Russia people could think that you're a freak. :)
Even the rise of Stalin popularity is caused in general by the disastrous results of these highly esteemed outside of Russia presidents and a good part of Russian society begins to strengthen its suspicions about the motives of that "esteem".
KGB is not a curse. It was an internal security service like FBI. If one needs to frighten someone it's much better to use "NKVD". Though it hasn't much sense either - Putin worked for Intelligence service.

What a tragedy :(
Russian services declared this. U.S. peers didn't just silently did the same with Russian embassy staff as soon as they came to the states. Really disappointing.

Let the people of Russia to decide what to do with Putin. No, sorry, I have to correct myself: the "West" has not and will not have a right nor power to substitute by itself the will of Russians expressed explicitly or implicitly. At least, it will not dare to use its lovely "democratic bombing" style until a nuclear triad is on and ready.

There's no modern technology of power production capable replace nuclear plants. If for personal use with some reservations it could be possible as to industries - no chance.

it would be better to have no leadership at all than as the current self assumed "i-better-know-what-you-need" leader as hypocritical "West" is.
