With a motive like that, yeah, one has to wonder. I hope they got the right bloke despite their suspect methods. CSI might be fiction, but one would think they could get a bit more than just

What has that got to do with anything? The number of people that can be killed is determined by a host of factors, including and especially the killing efficiency of the weapon. I would rather hold a gun and face three men with knives than me and two mates have knives and face just one man with a gun. Isn't this completely obvious to you?
Well aren't you the hopeful fool! Usually, people give up murder and crime for rather trivial difficulties. For lack of handy weapons, murders and injuries are prevented. This is common criminal justice theory in the modern age, mate, and it works.
He killed three with a truck. He killed four with the knife in the confusion that ramming a crowd with a truck caused. It was an extreme and singular event that lends your argument no credence in general matters. The only reason he might have had difficulty in meeting the same toll with a gun is that the noise would have dispelled the confusion. Even so, he probably could have slain many more.
I suggest you look at general events, and not the most extreme you can find, to get a picture of what usually happens. Knives are used as murder weapons in the United States second only to guns. However, the number slain is half, which means second place is not even close. And that is murder. Knives dont accidently go off. Even accidental knifings are less likely to be fatal than accidental shootings.

Should have said above, but beauty has value, whether its in looks or voice. Best not to over-value looks, that is a trap mankind has faced over and over. But looks still have value.
And blaze524, kudos to you for saying so. Always glad to help.

No. They took both. Peiyi's voice could be clearly heard as Miaoke could be clearly seen. My only question is if they told us it was Peiyi's voice or tried to hide the fact.
But lets not say cuteness. Lets say beauty. We value beauty, whether its a beautiful voice or a beautiful face. I seriously doubt that Peiyi started with a horrid voice and worked hard to make it beautiful, any more than Miaoke started with an ugly face and made it beautiful. She was born with her voice just as the other girl was born with her face. I am sure Peiyi did some work to improve her voice and singing ability. But I am sure Miaoke has also practiced her smile and her walk, etc.
If you choose one over the other, you are stating an opinion. So long as the situation is presented honestly and up front, we can have no solid criticism. As long as Peiyi is properly credited and praised, justice is satisfied. Was she? I have my doubts.

I do think you understand the situation. Mrs. Edwards was not on her deathbed. This was two years ago. She has been suffering for years.
Well, by this statement we can assume that you find little value in sex and romance and how it affects emotional stability. I used to be stoic myself.

If the understanding is in written form, printed and signed in triplicate, and notarized, probably not. But most understandings are not so clear. And usually, the spouse does not want to know the details. Wives are usually still sensitive to this sort of thing, even if they have given tacit approval. And even more than that, is performance to the political circus. You think the statement "My wife totally approves of my swinging ways!" is remotely acceptable for a politician to say?
So you are saying that Thomas Jefferson never should have even entered the race for presidency, given his scandals. Utter tripe!

So easy to say after the fact Romulus. Most domestic abuse cases do not end in murder. Its easy to over-react to such situations, and I would wager that over-reacting would increase the number of cases resulting in murder. We cannot sit back with so few details, assume every domestic abuse case is the same, and suggest fleeing right off the bat. Its possible the abuse was severe enough to warrant that option, but its also likely that no one could have fore-seen this outcome. But fleeing also has its dangers, as some men are like dogs and are given to chasing down those who flee. Sad but true.

He did not mean on a case by case basis so much as he meant in general across the country.
Common sense tells us its easier to kill with a gun and easier to kill more at a time. Because Japan has so few guns fewer people get killed. Common sense and even plain old statistics bear that out.

One would think there is some sort of reason. If the shooters party registration is revealed, there will be a deluge of partisan bickering over what that reason is.
It does not seem like this was a politician that deserved to be shot, and I hope that the implications of that statement are not lost on you.

Superlib, read the article mate. Particularly this part:
Aye, I know the start of the article has it backward. But its straightened out in the middle. Peiyi was chosen to cover Miaoke's voice, not Miaoke to cover Peiyi's face. The press is just attempting to generate more stink than there actually is.

The controversy can be solved by one simple question: At the ceremony were both lasses' names announced? Was Peiyi properly identified as the voice?
It does not matter whether you fancy lip-syncing or not. I certainly do not. I would prefer to see the true singer, but that is just my humble opinion. Where I absolutely draw the line is honesty. If they tried to snooker us and make us think it was Miaoke's voice, then they are absolutely out of bounds, and that would be fact. The blokes who made the decision (not the lasses) deserve the same derision as Milli Vanilli in such case. But if they clearly stated the situation before or during the ceremony, then they are ship shape. Which is it? One would think the reporters would tell us these things..... Ah! Sorry, I forgot an important concept! Reporters earn their bread through controversy, so they leave these things out on purpose! Blasted profit incentive!

I would not be so sure. There may be more to race than some are willing to admit. However, race hate is meaningless, and so are overt attempts to control the mixing of races. Ultimately, it is not a bad thing, but subtle things may be lost if races also disappear. And racial demographics will play a hand in the course of the country, like it or not, therefore, it has meaning in that resect also.
I believe the term hispanic is taking on a new meaning in America. In the American mind, it is more like mestizo, a mix of Spanish and native American ancestry. Many Americans don't realize that the upper class of Mexico and other Latin countries are quite white. That is because they are not the ones immigrating to America in droves.
At present, the term seems to be in a sort of limbo.

I think DZKUN808 must be correct. I watched a replay of one of Phelps wins. The bloke was as cool as a cucumber.
So, if DZKUN808 is correct, JT has completely messed this question up.

I did not write "all". I am a westerner, yet I do not share this little conviction that so many other westerners do. It is quite possible for a superior and subordinate to have a relationship that does not involve or affect work. But as the west has gone overboard in its attempt to tackle sexual harrassment, that fact is being replaced by the conviction that it is always a matter of coercion.
This conviction is quite popular in the west, as opposed to Japan, and maybe Iran as well, as opposed to Japan. So far, it seems I am the only one that took issue with northlondon's groundless assumption that the relationship was unnatural or unprofessional. In fact, I cannot recall hearing any westerner take issue with that groundless assumption any time it came up. Have you? Thus I accuse the west in general. Its hard to be sure, but it always seemed to me that the west was the direction this particular stench was emminating from.

You have no reason to assume that either way, mate.
Just because people have a weakness and inability to stay out of other's personal lives does not mean we should pander to that weakness. Far smarter to have a good president with a messy personal life than an idiot lying president whose personal life is (apparently) squeaky clean. Which does America have right now? Which was Thomas Jefferson? I rest my case.

I would like to protest needing an application to protest. At the very least, one should not need to state the reason for the protest.
Well, no peaceful protest can do that, even if they use speakers to shout "Free Tibet". Words do not harm interests. So why are they arresting people? Oh, yeah! I forgot some sissies are afraid of words!

All the budding junior psychologists have made their summary declaration of insanity I see. I would like to know just how much that application fiasco is affecting the man's life first. I would also like to know why he did not or could not get another person's signature.
It seems possible to me the colleague really worked this guy's career over. Who knows how badly he needed that qualification? Who knows why the colleague did this? One thing I can tell you is that no matter how malicious the intent of the colleague may have been, he will face no justice. That would be a truly maddening realization.
Pending details I am witholding diagnosis.

Just because you westerners like to assume a thing does not make it true. If you have evidence that there was pressure, then tell it. If not, dont assume there was. Sometimes people sleep with their bosses because they want to.
It says quite clearly in the article the rationalization of the family. But truth be told, their assumptions are as bad and groundless as yours.
These two men might have been the best thing in her life. Or they may have been the worst. Making assumptions without proof however, is clearly foolish.
