Kind of a sad story. In high school I enjoyed the risque lyrics of The Knack and actually went to see them in concert. They were a good band. After high school got into other musicians, but still listened to The Knack when I was feeling nostalgic. RIP Doug Fieger, thanks for the memories.

Come on! Doesn't anyone remember her in Black Biscuits and their hit single "Timing"? I preferred Pocket Biscuits with Chiaki, especially their first song "Rapturous Blue". They were both fun TV produced groups from the mid-90's. I think I need professional help....

I think he does a great job on Lost and is a good actor. His English is great, when he is allowed to speak it. I have seen all three episodes so far, and enjoying it. Since this is the last season, I am looking for a lot of answers too.

Kudos to Namie Amuro. If she doesn't want to do it, she doesn't have to. I'm really surprised that this was leaked to the papers. Are they trying to pressure her into doing it? Some of the comments here are like she is obligated to appear on TV. She isn't, and neither are any other famous people. She may lose visibility and some popularity, but that's her choice. After years of being hounded by the press and paparazzi, she wants to take a break. Let her live her life.

I think the Ministry of Education needs to take a long hard look at their system and make some necessary changes. For one thing, there have to be penalties for not studying. "A Hosei University professor speaks of students who, asked to translate a passage from English to Japanese, are reduced to writing their translations in hiragana because they don’t know kanji." If I was teaching this class, those students would be penalized for not knowing the kanji. This happens thanks to the "conveyor belt" education system, and in some cases the lack of interest shown by the teachers.

It is sad that the dogs died, but the truly sad story is the state of the pet industry in Japan, as well as in other countries. I have had several pets in my life, but I say no more pets. If you want to see animals, go out and see them in the wild. Hope that Mr. Hashimoto will change some of the laws regarding the pet industry in Japan.

Before/After. Perhaps they will rebuild his house for him, rather than just renovating it. Very lucky that no one was injured. Why do we need to know that the part is made of duralumin alloy? Just curious.

Yes! Kolchak: The Night Stalker! And on a similar vein, if any of you haven't had the pleasure, please check out Dark Shadows! An excellent gothic soap opera. I think most of it is available on dvd now. Barnabas and Quentin, and who can forget the beguiling Angelique.... Other shows I like: The Monkees, Batman, Flipper, Skippy, Gentle Ben, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, there are just too many!!!! My brain hurts! Oops, forgot Star Trek (TOS) and UFO. Loved the gear in UFO, and the (female) uniforms on the submarine and moon base.... Great stuff.

Canned coffee is popular in Japan because it's easy to get and fairly cheap. God knows there are vending machines everywhere. These days you can get brewed coffee cheaper at Doutor or Mister Donuts, but a cup of coffee in a coffee shop used to run at least 300 yen. No refills. And besides in the winter those cans of coffee make great pocket warmers, and when you arrive at your destination, a lukewarm drink.

Always enjoy these castle stories, though I'm not sure the Michael Jackson comment is necessary. It's too soon after his death, and it's not even funny. Kiyosu castle does sound like a nice place to visit though. Speaking of concrete castles, I'll never forget the first time I saw Osaka castle. Looks great from a distance, but as a kid, I couldn't understand why there was carpeting and an elevator.

The photo of her with her dog that was used was heartbreaking to look at. Really a tragic case. Now the snow is starting in the mountains, and it will be harder to find evidence. Keep digging officers, and find the person or people responsible.

Plain? I guess you could say that she looks like the girl next door, and maybe that's part of her appeal. I much prefer her looks to a yamamba or those cookie-cutter kawai girls we see in the streets and on TV all the time. Very refreshing and very beautiful in my opinion. Keep up the good work, and hope for the best in your future endeavors.

I think this series of commercials is great, but I wonder if Tarantino is Kai's brother, or his wife's brother. Should have used Brad Pitt as the black sheep cousin, the beard he's sporting now would be perfect.

Yeah, remember the Chevy Nova? Sold great in Mexico... All countries' car names are a little goofy sometimes. Advertising execs think they find the perfect combination of sounds and sell it to the car makers. Don't forget the Gloria, Sylvia and the great Fairlady Z.

Incredibly great news. Very happy that he has been caught. I hate to bring it up, but now comes the trial. Hopefully he will get what he deserves, but I am a little anxious about the trial. I hope the police and prosecutors have all the evidence they need to convict this guy of murder, and not just getting rid of a body. The circus is not over yet.
