Had the devloped countries moved to alternate energy sources years ago - - we would not be as concerned about what is happnening in Libya's back yard ( aside from the human rights violations).

Yes. True. However canines ( like most mammals) are pack animals that live in communities where they establish complex relationships within the grouo, and demonstrate the capacity to develop emotional bonds that supercede food sources. Hachiko is not the only canine ( nor mammal) who demonstrates loyalty in spite of separation and death. It is a fascinating component of animal psychology. That is what this story is about.

The Japanese are great tourists - but they are not risk-takers. They won't be going to Egypt in droves like before until socio-political stability is well established.

Not surprising that Sofia Coppola's fame and talent rides SOLELY on her relationship to her truly genius father . . . She is one of those vapid spoiled dizzy over-entitled offpring of famouse parents who can't think their way out of a wet paper bag.

ThonTaddeo including being verbally abused or having your emails read That probably makes a majority of Japanese salaryman husbands victims of abuse
Thon, you don't get around much do you ???? Domestic violence happens in EVERY country. . . Having worked in clinical settings in Canada I can assure you the verbal abuse and reading emails ( just a small piece on the continuum of violence, btw) happen with BOTH sexes and within EVERY socio-political setting. ** .. . . What is novel is that JAPAN is finally acknowleding this abuse and is beginning to address it within its criminal code ( something European countries, USA, Canada etc have done years ago - - - - BUT domestic violence continues in those countries in spite of the legal ramifications ).

I hope other Koreans will continue to gain recognition in Japan . . (and Vice versa). . . . . These two countries have to work together to build a new future for their next generations. . . . It is time to let bygones be bygones. We can take lessons from how European Community has pulled together inspite of huge historical frictions.

True. However it is good they identify Tadanari Lee's Korean ethnicity. And personally I am very HAPPY thet Lee scored the winning goal for Japan. This kind of thing helps to rehabilitate ties between these two sister nations ( who have a lot more in common historically ) - which is important.

What an insipid statement. People - women and men- in EVERY country (Britain, France, Russia, Thailand, US, China ) HAVE to work to live . Work pushes many enjoyable passtimes to the side. .and for the most part "the system' people work and function in defines their lives because they have families, homes, and lives that require MONEY . That includes people like you, as well . **KUDOS TO THE JAPANESE WHO ARE SHOwING THAT AGING CAN BE FUN, FRUITFUL, EXCITING,SEXY , FULFILLING & SELF ACTUALIZING! ! ! **

Great art !!! When you go to Europe you see this genre of art all over : actors standing motionless ( on the street, at the beach ,etc) - sometimes depicting a " moment", other times a "work of art" like this - but always giving those passing by cause to STOP and PONDER a bit.
