    smartacus :

Is making that Vee sign for photos in the DNA of every Japanese woman?

These are culturally appropriated communication symbols : like the kiss Europeans give each other, the ubiquitous hug or the 'thumbs up' of No. Americans. Anyone who has travelled a bit knows and doesn't reveal their naivette by such simplistic stereotyping.

From news sources Mexico appears to have become worse than the legendary "wild west". . . . . We used to vacation in mexico often - - but hands down , those days are over.

    Gurukun :

I've seen miniskirt kimonos being worn. Sad

Not really. The skies the limit in terms of how the kimono can be ( and should be ) adapted and modernized.

The Kimono is here to stay as a fashion item . It is elegant aesthetic and gracious - - and new Japanese designers will contemporize it, gradually making it more 'wearer-friendly' as well.

DentShop : Kabuki has stars? What a country...

It's a misnomer. Kabuki has master actors. . . not unlike Shakespearan Theatre.

space monkey: First of all, ** "the medium is the message"**. Capice??? Look up Marshall Mcluhan if it doesn't ring a bell. SECONDLY - Drucker's ideas are not ubiqitously practised in No America . . . There IS an appreciable difference between European & No American culture - - There are grades of differences in what is meant by "west". If Druckers "principles ' were practiced in the USA you wouldn't see the wholesale raping of the American worker by callous CEO's of the BIG Corps.

This is the tip of the iceberg showing its ugly head . . the toxic environment of obfuscation, manipulation, violence and control they guys work in ends up with these displays of pathology. NO SURPRISE THERE !

Look up real amateur porn, and the US has way more than Japan

**You are right on ! And do not forget Europe where porn is normalized **. Besides this whole discussion reflects vacuity, and one wonders why it is even a "news item". Perhaps JT finds it a scintillating theme ! ***roll eyes***

We wanted to go to Hawaii for Christmas- - but American airport security has turned us off . . we will likely NEVER be flying into the States if we can help it - - the security measures are intrusive.

american bengoshi : . . . the reporters were saying that the mope in the photo looks like a

foreigner... Nearly all crime in Japan is committed by foreigners... That is what the Japanese media would have us believe

NOT QUITE ! ! ! For one thing: THE GUY IN THE PHOTO ABOVE DOES HAVE FEATURES of someone NOT JAPANESE. . . . . Secondly. in stating that the perp "looks" like a foreigner is not fomenting prejudice against foreigners. . . . .A spade is a spade . . . . Maybe it's you who is over-reacting.

Moderator: No further references to foreigners please, unless the suspect is positively identified as such.
