The correct thing to stimulate the economy would be to print yen, put it into the economy without paying interest, wait for the economy to get better, and then remove the yen that was put into the economy over a period of several years.

Aren't there already plans to build a new fast breeder elsewhere? If it weren't for the anti-nuke crowd the monju reactor would already be replaced by new technology.

I'm trying to start a company and the cost of importing goods now is really hurting a lot. It will definitely slow things down. I miss the days of a stronger yen.

Recovery from what? The population is aging and declining and that is driving the economic problems (which aren't nearly as bad as in most places). Irrational fear of nuclear power is also hurting the economy. It will take more than a few years to rebuild the population, so as usual Aso doesn't know what he is talking about. The birthrate was last at replacement rate in 1973. Aso has been in the Diet since 1979, so he has had plenty of time to reason about the situation and try to fix it.

Prices are going up, but incomes have not increased, except for maybe the heads of large companies.
I'm trying to start a company myself and have to import all my raw materials, since Japan doesn't have natural resources. Everything costs 25% more now, which makes things extremely difficult.
