@ bass4funk - You got that right. We lived in LA close to downtown the last four years before moving to Japan. I never had any problem walking several blocks to work and back during the daytime. But my wife and I always tried to get home before dark. Once, as we were entering our building, a guy tried talking to my wife. I said "Hey, that's my wife" and he said "If you talk to me again, I'll kill you". Nice huh, and he lived in our building. So we are very glad to live in Japan, and not afraid to go out at night.
Having said that, there are more cases of children dying from abuse or carelessness of parents in Japan, than from child predators, so let's be careful about that also.
Posted in: Nowadays, for fear of child predators, it is no longer considered safe to let young children go by themselves to and from school, to a friend's house, play in parks or at the beach, go to shops and so on. Was it like this when you were young?

@ CGB - Why is it so hard to believe? That's what Earnest Hemingway (and his father before him) did.

IDIOT BOYFRIEND'S GUIDE TO BABY CARE:
A one year old baby will cry for one of four reasons...hunger, diaper change, loneliness, or illness. So if your girlfriend's baby is crying, and you can't focus on your sleep or video games, try one of these handy tips. Give him/her something to eat. If they want more, then they're hungry. Check the diaper. If it's wet or smells, change it. If it's not the first two, try holding them for a bit, or lay down with them. If they're sick, keep him comfortable till mama gets home, or take him to the clinic yourself if it's serious.

A poor choice...if you get to the point where you just can't take it anymore, take her to the emergency room and walk away. Now what?

Lucabrasi's right JP all the way, hands down. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard they have the most assets too.

First of all, handguns are banned in Japan, not shotguns, so no problem there.
He was 75 and she was 30? Why not if you have the money? I can make some educated guesses though...1) You know she had friends with benefits on the side, 2) Ojichan found out about them and they had a big fight, 3) She threatened to divorce him and get a big settlement, 4) Ojichan played the trump card.

"detractors who believe her shooting, hospitalization and coma were all staged" That is the stupidest thing I've heard all year. Are you kidding me? Let's see them take an AK-47 round to the head and live to tell about it. "Through Malala they want to malign the image of Pakistan and Islam" Well' DUH. That's what happens when you go shooting high school girls in the head for voicing an opinion.

From what I understand, true Islam IS a religion of peace. The radicals who twist its words to justify their violence and ambition are not following Islam.

She was shot in the head, survived, and became a peace activist. I'd say she earned it. Obama, on the other hand, literally only made a few speeches to "win" his. That ain't right.
