I once saw an umbrella vending machine. It made me wonder how many it had to dispense to make a profit after deducting the costs of running it.

Please, enough. Just let it go. I don't condone what Japan did, but how many times do they have to apologize and make payments? When will it be over, when all the victims are dead? Even then, will their families keep it going?

"Under the Japanese Automobile Accident Compensation Act, if a driver is unable to prove they are without fault, they become responsible for damages." Guilty until proven innocent, that's the way Japan's justice system works. That's also the reason why the best advise for men falsely accused of groping is to run away.

The article forgot to mention niceties like brushing your teeth/using mouthwash, coughing/sneezing into a handkerchief instead of your bare hand (and then grabbing a handle), and (for the guys) always keeping both hands where people can see them.

If that's what you want to do, go ahead. But I'm not one for waiting that long when I'm hungry. The longest line I ever saw was when the Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop opened at Tachikawa Station. The line went on for miles, and had several security guards.

The Yakuza have been an integral part of Japanese society and politics for a long long time. Many "retired" members have gone on to hold the highest posts in the government. So it's atare mae that the police can do little.

While I don't enjoy the noise, it is a valid tactic. There are so many candidates, I'm sure many people will get to the polls and draw a blank. That's the moment when repeatedly blaring out "Daisuke daisuki Daisuke daisuki" (like I heard in Keo Hachioji) will pay off.
