The assumption you have alluded to is true, but I've never used a hostess for anything. That doesn't mean I didn't take the time to talk to some.

Here's a news flash, children up to the age of (I forget right now) already get free healthcare in Japan. Whenever our grandchildren are sick, the doctor visit and prescriptions are fee. Well, not completely free, we have to pay a few yen for the plastic containers any meds may come in.

I just watched a newscast on this topic. They showed the iPhone nest to the Chinese copy. They look the same, and even the logos are very similar. The Chinese logo looks like a tangerine with a stem/leaf at the top.

I resent the allusion you made that the Filipinos mariners are thieves. Some may be, because people are people no matter their nationality, but most are not.

My wife and I (US citizens) live in a western Tokyo suburb, and we're not going anywhere. Our children and grandchildren live here and we would never leave them. Radiation or no, this is our home now. I am in no way knocking those who move. You have to do what's right for you. On the flip side, how many thousands die each year from smoking-related diseases yet there's no panic and people continue to smoke?

Let's not hate on Becky for any real or perceived motives for her helping disaster victims. How MANY are doing nothing at all? Do the victims care what her motives are? If I was cold and hungry, I wouldn't care why you were giving me food and shelter.

Having said all of that, yes this seems like a "crime of passion" as indicated by the extreme violence. Maybe she didn't want anything to do with him, and he pulled the "If I can't have you, nobody can" card. Unfortunatelt, because of his age, nothing serious will happen to him.

They called it a "Gentlemen's Snack Club" to make the patrons feel better, like the strip clubs in the U.S (where probably few act like gentlemen) are called "Gentlemen's Clubs". Snack clubs (gentlemen's or no) are a type of "hostess" club that offer food as well as alcohol. It's the hostess's job to keep the customer happy and entice him into purchasing over-priced food and drink. It's common for the hostess to have a "50/50" deal, meaning they get 1/2 of the profit, with the club's manager. I'm sure some hostesses also work as prostitutes, but many don't and are wives and mothers who could get no other job. They endure because they have to survive.
