Difficult to strangle three people without them putting up a fight. Makes me wonder if the Mum and Dad strangled one kid each and then Dad strangles Mum and Dad hangs himself on doorknob. All planned out by both parents or just the Dad's idea?

Come on! They are only war criminals because the victors said so. Read the book, "The Tokyo Trials" by Bert V. A. Roling (who was a judge at the trials) and edited by A. Cassese to find out what a farce it all was. William Webb, the chief justice, was an Aussie and, understandably, most of the judges were rather biased!

This is the problem when nutcases get their hands on nukes. No wonder other countries want to have nukes too. It really changes the negotiation position.

The undeniable truth is that fewer guns should mean fewer gun deaths and no guns would mean zero gun deaths. Let's hope the US starts moving in the right direction. It would be tough and take a long time but give it a try. Surprise the rest of the world!

The "How would you feel...?" comments are irrelevant. Hashimoto is actually right but silly to think it wouldn't stir up emotions. He seems to want to do so. He also said that it was against the will of those women involved so he isn't denying it was bad, just necessary at the time. One would hope that soldiers around the world are better trained and disciplined than those of 70 years ago but are they? Armies that are involved in conquering other nations have always raped and pillaged. In those days it was the norm (and although it sounds terrible but what else was there to do? No electronic toys to play with etc). At the end of the day (or at the end of almost 70 years since the end of WWII) it is time to move on and move forward.

I reckon Tokyo is still in with a chance. Spain's economy is almost dead. Istanbul is a riskier choice. Tokyo has the necessary infrastructure already in place. Istanbul should try for 2024 (although they have already failed in their Olympic bids 5 times before).... Go Tokyo!

In the same way that those who have never wanted or needed a gun cannot fathom the logic behind the feeling that guns are so necessary, those who have always been around guns and use them can't imagine life without them. But there is no doubt that the latter are the biggest losers!

"Enshrined" doesn't really mean much. The 14 Class A War Criminals' bodies or ashes aren't even there. And we are talking about victor's justice in that Japan's enemies at the time (the Allied forces etc.) decided who should be hung. China always says it doesn't interfere in other sovereign states' business and tells other countries to do the same so they should butt out. Korea too. I'm sure there are some pretty dodgy soldiers buried in many war cemeteries around the world. If some people want to go and pray for peace at those places, let them. I don't think it glorifies war at all. Lest we forget......

No, he'll automatically be deported when his sentence ends. No Roppongi or Shibuya nights for him. You don't actually think they are going to give him permanent residency when he gets out, do you? Makes me wonder if they did need to give him a tourist visa in order to get him into the country for his court case. Or is there another visa status like 'Suspected Pirate'?

NK is going too far this time. But this is the problem when so-called rogue states manage to create nuclear weapons. The rest of the world hesitates because of it, hence these countries like NK and Iran realise they can use them as negotiating tools. Imagine if any other country said they were going to test missiles that might fly over other countries. There would be an uproar. Time for NK to shutup or face the consequences of their stupid actions.

Credit to TELL for doing this kind of work but was surprised that, according to the above, they only get '6000 calls annually', which averages out to about 16 a day.

Some people have a Mickey and Minnie doll, some may have two Mickey dolls and other may have two Minnie dolls. Different strokes for different folks. Get over it. Homosexuality has been around since humans have been around. Nothing new there, just more open now.

I got on a Women Only car on the Toyoko line a couple of years ago by mistake (it's one of the cars towards the middle of the train on that line, I learned that day!). I'd just had a haircut and thought that must be the reason these nice ladies were looking at me, not in an unfriendly way, just sort of looking. I recall smiling to myself but my brief reverie was suddenly interrupted by one lady who told me in very good English that this car was for women only. I was so surprised but, glancing around, noticed she was right. There were women everywhere! I moved toward the door feeling rather disappointed that it had nothing to do with my new haircut at all and then sheepishly got off the train at the next stop.

Good on her. Quite an achievement. Sad but soon there will be no one left on the planet who was born in the 19th century.
