One point that concerns me is, the culture of 'sempai'. Japanese people are afraid to speak out against anybody in a higher position or older than themselves. Their opinion is usually that of the sempai regardless of their own beliefs. This leads me to believe the jury members would agree with whatever the higher or older member of the jury says. Justice Japan style!

Yeah, right! As you sit in front of your electricity guzzling LCD screen surfing the internet in your air-conditioned apartment eating pre-packaged food. At least I have the intelligence to admit my lifestyle is far from environmentally friendly. You're kidding yourself mate!

I have a six cylinder diesel car because it's cheap to run.
I sleep in my car with the engine and air-con running because it's a good environment for me.
I only eat whale meat and tuna to keep the oceans clean from those dirty fish.
I use as many plastic shopping bags as I can to keep the manufacturers in a job.
I always buy foods that are wrapped at least three times to be sure it's fresh.
I throw all my cans on the street so the recycling places don't get overrun.
I kidnap cats and set them free in the forests so they can control the population of native species.
I release all my exotic fish into the river so they don't clog the toilet.
I leave all electrical appliances running so the electricity doesn't get backed up and cause a surge.
Finally, I burn all my rubbish and old tires in an incinerator in my yard to keep my environment free of waste.

A sign of the times. It's about time Japanese people started to stand up for their worker's rights. The work ethics (or lack of them) in this so-called 'developed country' are a bloody disgrace! Good on him! However, his brother won't get his money. He will be fired and have his severance pay abolished for being a trouble maker.

One can only ponder the amount of electricity this monster must consume. I don't think I'd like to be sitting too near it either. The EMF wold make your hair stand up (or fall out).

That's the kind of superficial belief that created this problem in the first place. Gees, even Einstein had a mustache! My philosophy professor had a ponytail and beard, but is one of the most highly educated and respected professors in the world. So, your opinion is just plain wrong. Appearances don't mean anything. There is way too much importance put on appearances in Japan although, it does go very well with the superficial nature of the society.

This case could turn the table on many aspects of Japanese work. Could it be possible to see male teachers having ponytails and beards like ZZ Top? Could it also go so far as to create a certain level of acceptability to tattoos? There is no way this guy will win his case. The culture of Japan is not ready accept something new like, freedom of expression.

Exactly! And that is all it is. It doesn't beat the Palm PCs for functions. It doesn't beat the Japanese mobiles for price, range, network and service. It only has a small hard drive for an MP3 player. But, it's kowaiiiii!!! Hence, gadget only!

Another one!?!? How many random stabbings have there been this year? Two or three a month? I am seriously concerned for the welfare of my kids. This place is going to the dogs (freaks)!
There were three freak incidents yesterday. How many today?

I had a play with one the other day and it is very cool, but not the 'be all and end all' of mobile phones. It is astounding that, there are three technologies (MP3 player, phone, PC) packed into one unit, but it still has it's limitations. The feedback I got from the owner was, medium reception for phone use, slow internet connection and two hands needed for most operations. In my opinion, it is only the 'cool factor' that makes this so popular. It has a small hard drive, even the 16GB model will fill very quickly with movies and music and the battery life is short if you are using the video or slideshow modes. I have an iPod to show my friends photos, I have three Mac PCs and I have a very efficient Japanese mobile phone that will do everything the iPhone will do, it's just not as pretty. However, my iPod has 80GB hard drive, which is more than enough, two of my Mac computers are portable and my mobile phone battery lasts for three days between charges and, I can also use it with one hand. The iPhone is a cool toy and if you would be satisfied with the limitations and are sure owning an iPhone will get you sex, then it is the toy for you.

My first reaction to this was a freak off his leash, however, it is quite possible this was some kind of prank set up by someone trying to impress his mates.

And, yet another psycho is discovered. At least it was only a dog and not a baby. What is this place coming to? It just seems more and more seriously disturbed people are being discovered every day.

Hey! That's a familiar handle serendipity628! What's up? Isn't the dictionary big enough for you?
Anyway, nice little blight on Yomiuri by JT headlining the story with Yomiuri. Does it matter they worked for another newspaper? Is it relevant they are only delivery boys and were not even employed by Yomiuri? I think the only relevant point in this headline is, yet another rape.
