Let's try a couple of potential motives:
He was angry at his mother for not washing his underwear.
He was angry with the bar staff for not putting the mandatory four inch head of foam on his beer.
The barmaid told him to p/off and stop being a drunken scumbag.
He is just another psychotic member of this society who preys on women.

While it is terrible to see The US and Japan's economy in trouble, it is quite good for other countries like Australia to prosper in their wake.

MMM! An interesting turn of phrase, "lost the plot!" Is it possible to lose something you never had? - I guess it is cos the Russian wrestler also lost the pot he never really had, right?

The biggest problem I know of with surrogacy is, quite often the surrogate mothers do not want to give up the child. It would be a very difficult thing to do for some people. Adoption is a completely different argument.

Ask the average Japanese person what Halloween is and they have no idea! Yet, they'll still get dressed up in stupid clothing and attend street parades. The parade in Kawasaki is a classic example. It has nothing to do with the tradition if Halloween. It's just an excuse for all the 'wanna-be' gothics to use their black make up.

Yep, Disneyland has started with all their Halloween crap too. I'm glad to be an Aussie cos there is no Halloween in Australia. October 31st is spring!

If you are so dead set against seat belts and doubt their effectiveness Australia is a good example for your education. You should research the difference in annual fatalities before and after seat belts became compulsory. I'm not gonna do it for ya! Seat belts save lives! And, ignorance is bliss - until you are killed in a car accident because you weren't wearing a seat belt, of course.

Woops! Typo - 'wear off' not 'were off'.
See, that's how much these sick bastards upset me!

The shock factor of these sickening incidents does were off after the first thirty or so. I'd just like to be there when one of these cowardly bastards attempts something like this. He'd wanna hope he has a big knife and knows how to use it! - For years I have tried not to generalize the Japanese society over events like this, but I can't help but look at most Japanese men and wonder is going on in the their perverted little minds. I just have a fear I am actually gonna catch one of these twits in the act and do him some serious damage, which will end my time in Japan, not his.

Oh, yeah! What a classic! Bring out the straight jackets! We have another one!
Afterthought - importing and supplying straight jackets could be quite a lucrative business in Japan. I saw at least four worthy candidates on the way to the station this morning.

Yeah, apologies people. I was being sarcastic in my previous post. As we say in Australia, "seat belts save lives!" and should be worn by every passenger in the car regardless of their physical condition. Now, if the Japanese police would actually do something about it instead sending stupid little reports to the media there would be a point to this article.
And, BTW, - Ice Road is a compound noun referring to a road made of ice, which usually runs a cross a frozen lake. People do not wear seat belts in case the ice breaks and they have to get out quickly. Whereas, an icy road refers to the actual condition of the road. Got it?

Yeah, classic Japanese logic. It's the same as removing ashtrays from the street, so now they just drop their butts! Let's just say that, in general, the population is disgustingly self-centered and could not give two hoots about anything outside their own little circle of life, all three inches of it!

Is it really an anniversary? Wouldn't 'commemoration' be a better word? A sad day in world history, either way. Am I the only one to make a connection with the date and the American emergency telephone number? - 911 - Coincidence? Maybe? Maybe not!

Arrest??? Do Japanese police arrest people for not wearing seat belts? Nice Engrish!
Seat belts ARE dangerous for pregnant mothers. I don't know where these guys get their info. If a pregnant mother is in a car accident that is serious enough to cause trauma to a fetus the seat belt is more likely to be the cause of the trauma. Pregnant mothers should sit in the back seat of a car with a pillow on their lap or take a train, so they can stand up while some high school kid pretends to sleep in the priority seat.

How can you avoid imported and mislabeled foods in a country where 60% of all food is imported? Unfortunately, you must have faith in the labeling of food. It's a bit like playing lotto - or is that Russian Roulette?

well, you need to get up to Kashima. It's knee deep in everything from fishing nets to building materials and all points in between. In Australia the local councils do beach cleaning in every morning through summer and once a week through winter. They have tractors with sifting machines attached to them. It's a little amusing to watch because whenever the operators hear a coin going through the machine they stop and dig it out. The general lack of respect for the local environment within Japan is very disappointing.

I remember the first time I saw kids being trollied around like this. At first, I thought it was one of the strangest things I'd ever seen, but after some consideration, it is actually one of the safest and smartest things I've seen in Japan. However, it's only as smart as the nanny pushing it. Let's hope she has a good sense of direction and timing.

There are NO well known Japanese bands I would walk across the road to listen to. However, I have heard some good pub bands and all the good ones seem to have women singers. The guys seem to be too fixated on their hair, tattoos and trying to be someone they are not. - Bugger! I've just described 80% of the male population under thirty years old. :P
