It won't matter about pronouncements of Japan's safety. People won't come. So Tokyo is a loss already and they should spend the money on relocating the children and families while repairing. Tokyo bid is even more irresponsible given the continuing challenges. By denying the bid to concentrate on rebuilding efforts, it would focus those efforts

Everyone should pull out for the same reason. Might force some economic transparency at the IOC.

reduce eating meat. The body only needs about a deck of cards worth a week, so it can be reduced significantly. Make the salad the main dish. Eat more fish.
Other countries do it just fine. It isn't differential calculus

look up the Okinawan diet, an examination of why traditional Okinawans and not those who have adopted an American diet live longer with less disease and stress. The social interaction alone would however mean that Americans put down the guns and start helping each other. Highly doubtful that the solutions that are shown to work could even work in such an environment of ignorance and fear.
No one is pointing to the network regarding allowing this chef's show on the air. No one wants to take responsibility. This just underlines the incapacity of a once prosperous country

Not sure how anyone could call the Japanese diet in comparison to the American one given the thinness of Japanese versus the landmass rotund of Americans

Agree with comments above. If the salary isn't worth it, I am not helping the company by wasting both theirs and my time by not asking about it. You don't even have to be specific, just within the industry range what range is it and where on the scale is it? If they don't value you, why should the interviewer?

This is too bad. If some interviewer were to actually get to know who is it they have in front of them, they'd have a real conversation and get real positive employees.

Canadian University for us is where we start to get serious about academic issues and courses. Thus exams are at the end of each semester or year depending on the university style. We don't have entrance exams in junior and senior highschool and university like Japan but you're carried through just by passing. No pressure at all.
University does have entrance marks and the levels vary depending on the program of interest, but still not an entrance exam. Thus the system has a teaching purpose through each level of the year in study making exams required. This is usually the first time students are challenged and forced to really work hard. I don't think this is unusual outside of Japan
The issue is that memorization isn't helping Japan anymore and the educational system needs to allow people to grow in university rather than depending on business to do it.
University grade level minded people or those of even older years should start their own businesses. The level of entrepreneurial activity in Japan is remarkable low compared to other countries. Quite literally no one can even think of working for themselves. I know many talented people but they are afraid to try and I'm always saddened when their work for a large company, never to use their real skills again.

I realize the Japanese health insurance system is more like the USA than those in other countries with healthcare systems paid for by taxes. In other countries the decision to deny children healthcare is never made. I simply can't imagine

The governments are not tech savvy enough to understand that this is all turning into a global monopoly. It's time we broke it up ourselves using the free tools that are available. This gives me a reason to learn programming again so at least I'm technical. I'm sure there are many who wouldn't mind not being Googled or FB'd in the future.
