you don't remove anyone from the SC. That's the point of having it, that's its design. It forces no one to get their own way except through dealing and compromise. A difficult concept for America, I know.

When Saudi Arabia goes, that'll be the end of America's cheap oil. America depends on tyranny for a cheap fillup. Ironic indeed that the people rise up for freedom take away America's ability to drive. If only people were interested in less tyranny and fewer dictatorships from the start. And also Florida cancelled the trains. Timing will be impeccable.

will be interesting to see if the kleptocracy wins or what's left of middleclass America.

UNSC is for nuclear armed countries of which the USA is one. That it started the UN in the ideas of another age and today couldn't care less about paying its dues or doing anything reasonably concrete to stop stupid wars makes it frustrating. It has long lost the moral authority on global issues

Who can be the soft power here to get USA on side? Their reasoning continues to baffle

Rice said the United States did not want the veto to be “misunderstood” as support for continued Israeli settlement construction.

Reading this is seems to me Republicans are just giddy that gullible Americans voted them back in so early after decimating the country for eight years and all the times since Reagan they have been in power. Why should facts get in the way of a pinning it all on Obama?

The country is a sham of its former self. With all its oil interests dropping because of the increasing rise of Arabian Democracy, I suspect that with Obama gone in the next election, the Republican President will get back to supporting whichever dictator who can secure supplies rather than just reduce oil use and use local innovation with decreased pollution.

Egypt is awesome tonight, accept it. People rose up and took back their country. I don't know what future it holds, but this is an amazing day and not to be doubted the power of the people, united, will never be defeated. Sweet liberty indeed

US remediation would require tax hikes and income taxes plus massive cuts in all services, over a couple of decades. Really now, who has the gumption to explain that to America? It is quite impossible in their environment. They've tax-cutted themselves to ruin.

All anyone can really do is shrug the shoulders and watch the show

All China has to do is pull its loans and America is toast. No bullets fired. OF course it ruins itself in the process, so any act of conflict seems unlikely and more brought on by regional tensions not directly.

No, they're both on Mutually Assured Destruction; China forever giving money away and goods to an America forever spending and buying. Disrupt that system and they both go down. Too little money in a system, or too much money in a system. Deflation, hyperinflation whatever. There are no winners here.

In this scenario the teetering US economy will be the first to fall. And with little public realm services it would be the most affected

I read the list again and I'm just floored. What will be left to call America? Instead of the American Dream, America will have been a dream.

This is a beautiful event, in spite of those who died but even more so because of it. This man and this country are pushing to be free. Free of Mubarak, free of the USA which has bankrolled him for so long and charge a new path.

Note these are not extremists or even religious goals as the main group involved are under 40.

I wish Mr. Ghonim well for the future as it has all the possibility in front of it now.

besides, this bill only represents about four months of spending in Iraq. This is what your public money might have been going to, the public.
