Japanese use knife most frequently in attacking and hurting somebody. Why don't the J-law treat the knife same as guns since they are both used as weapons to hurt somebody? Make the J-laws much harsher on knife use. In Japan, if you attack with a small knife and inflict a deep wound, you probably get a much lighter sentence then using a gun, but the damages is a same. The sentence should be the same as guns.

China today still faces some of the same structural problems as Japan. The most important lesson for China to learn from Japan's over two decades of economic stagnation is that circumstances change quickly, and if a system is incapable of adjusting to those changes well, the economic quality of life will certainly suffer. This is what occurred with the Japanese system of state-assisted capitalism. China's relatively inflexible economic system still makes it difficult for foreign companies to adjust quickly to competitive challenges. as their foreign counterparts. The Chinese system continues to change much too slowly and they might end up with a stagnent economy in a decade.

Japanese women are brought up to know the difference in men and women and their roles in life. Anytime you invert or reverse a structured agenda, it is chaos, which is what we see in the western world. In the U.S. look at the divorce rate. In Japan, you hardly see a woman raise her voice at or talk disrespectfully at any man, even when the man is being a jerk. They maintain their composure and feminity and rather walk, not stump away. Once these Japanese men get married to their Japanese dream girls, and have children, all that games that the Japanese women put up with during the dating period, suddenly comes to an end. The relationship becomes difficult since they are not used to the confrontation.

Molenir May. 22, 2012 - 07:21AM JST. And thats precisely what they did in 1965. Or did you miss that? If you do me wrong, and then pay me to make it right, and then I come back a year later and ask you to pay me again... You will start to wonder, how much, and how often will I have to pay before the slate is clean?
In 1965, Japan asked Korea to show the concrete number of conscripted workers and soldiers, dead and injured and how much unpaid wages were. They asked to "show the evidences and they would pay". Korea agreed and investigated them. What I want to clarify here is that Korea didn't claim the compensation for the war time prostitutes. Why didn't they? It's because there was no abducted prostitute. Nobody said at the time in Korea, those prostitutes were abducted. Everyone knew there were many women who were so poor that they sold themselves to live and the Japan army didn't have to abduct Korean women. There were many Korean volunteers for Japan army at the time. Therefore Koreans didn't claim it at that time.

arrestpaulMay. 21, 2012 - 09:24PM JST So do I. The FBI identified the eco-terrorist Watson as just another eco-terrorist due to his repeated acts of violence. Just like all the other eco-terrorists who destroy property and threaten peoples lives.
If that is true, then, why isn't Dutch goverment revoking their ship registrations or U.S. revoking Sea Shepard tax exmpt status? Both the Steve Irwin and Bob Barker ships sail under Dutch flag leading a direct complaints by the Japanese government towards Netherlands. However, Netherlands refuse to considered revoking the registrations for both vessels. Japan also has numerous times to U.S. goverment about revoking the Sea Shepards's tax exempt status in the U.S. they have refused. Maybe the Sea Shepard has a stronger case than Japan, where both Dutch goverment and U.S. goverment is protecting them.

Deforestation is responsible for increasing Earth's temperature. Trees control the amount of Oxygen and Carbon dioxide balance in the region. When trees are cut, Carbon dioxide released by both animals and plants is no more utilized. Oxygen supply is also reduced. When Carbon dioxide is released in the atmosphere, they trap long wavelengths of sunlight and do not allow it to go back. This leads to gradual warming of the atmosphere. Trees are responsible for maintaining the moisture content of the region. They return the unused water back into the atmosphere. In this way the region remains moist. In this way, Amazon rainforests remain moist. Deforestation will stop this process and will turn the forest as dry as desert.

paulinusa May. 19, 2012 - 08:37AM JST If they can continue to figure out how "monetize" their business, in the long run $38 will be a very.very cheap entry point.
Facebook relies on an old internet business model, that is display ads. Display ads generally hurt the user experience, and are also not very efficient at producing revenues. Facebook makes about 1/10th of Google’s revenues even though they have 2x the pageviews. Bad news for Facebook is that, if there is one consistent similarities in internet advertising, the ads work dramatically better when consumers have purchasing intent. Google makes the majority of their revenues when people search for something to buy. Can't say that about Facebook.

I hope it is not the way of the future. I already see Facebook losing ground. Once upon a time a useful tool until they got greedy and decided that what we so enjoyed about it had taken away and redesigned for the money to start pouring in for them. Facebook became a tool to spy upon us and market us whether we approve or not. At some point it will fade from favor, but only when something better replaces it, just like facebook replaced MySpace. Facebook has made too many changes that have turned the faithful off. It will be a while before it totally fades, but it's heyday is over. It's probably a fad. I'm thinking that the really young kids of today won't be thinking about or using Facebook.

Scientific research? Here are the most important scientific discoveries by the Japanese research on whales. Whales are bigger than people. Yes it's true. Whales eat fish. Incredible new discovery by top Japanese experts. Killing whales is very profitable although that is secondary to their research. Whales do not taste good so we force feed it to school children so they will acquire the taste. Eat it and shut up kid. Whale meat is expensive at sushi bars in Tokyo. Whale meat can be quick frozen for transport to Japan. Anyone who interferes with Japanese research whaling is an enemy of science. Sounds like real research by the Japanese to benefit the mankind.

The very fact that the captain of the Japanese ship has not been questioned for the destruction of the Sea Shepherd vessel denies any civilian description of the Shonan Maru 2. A civilian vessel would have been investigated and the captain questioned and charged for a felony offense. Even if the collision were an accident, the captain would have been questioned. That is the nature of civilian maritime operations. Collisions at sea are investigated and the officers in charge are questioned. Only military officers are immune to questioning by civilian authorities and that is the case with this incident. In this case, the inquiry should have been ordered by Japan because the Shonan Maru 2 is a Japanese registered ship. What did Japan do? Just washed their hands? The Australian authorities should've investigated the incident because the incident took place in the waters of the Australian Antarctic Territory.

arrestpaulMay. 17, 2012 - 11:26AM JST. The continuous and repeated acts of violence by the ecot-terrorist SS, the sinking of fishing and whaling vessels, ramming of vessels, the throwing of glass bottles of acid, and shooting red phosphorus flares at ships and crewmen may have finally caught up with the eco-terrorist Watson.
The J-government is "desperate" to keep Sea Shepherd ships from returning to the Southern Ocean.
There is no doubt that the motives of the JCG and the Japanese government are political. The Sea Shepherd vessel Ady Gil was sheared in two by the Shonan Maru No. 2 in 2010. However, none of the authorities in Japan, New Zealand or Australia have questioned the captain of the Shonan Maru 2 for deliberately ramming and destroying multi- million dollar Sea Shepherd vessel and almost killing six Sea Shepherd volunteer crewmembers. The J-ship has collided with another vessel on the high seas and the captain of the ship responsible has not even been questioned.

Rick Kisa May. 17, 2012 - 03:14AM JST There are also primarily economic reasons that prevent nuclear from being a viable alternative to combat climate change: Investment in nuclear power projects can drain badly-needed funds from energy efficiency and renewable energy programmes, most of which have substantially lower specific greenhouse gas abatement costs than nuclear energy.
Yes, nuclear plants are very expensive to run. I believe nuclear plants are, like most other things, cheaper in bulk. Most of the cost comes from the initial building of the plant, the running costs are comparatively low. However, nuclear power is reliable. There is no need to worry about interruptions to the power supply as long as there is uranium, there will be power. This is a stark contrast to most renewable energies which depend on the activity of the weather. And if you compare with the fossil fuel, they are clean. I'm using this term strictly to refer to the greenhouse gas emissions of a nuclear plant. There is some greenhouse gas emissions associated with the life cycle of uranium. However, this is significantly less than the emissions associated with the burning of fossil fuels. Also, the nuclear power plants don't take up much space. This allows them to be placed in already developed areas and the power does not have to be transferred over long distances. However, there are issues with radioactive waste.

Doesn't matter what Obama's current asset is. Where he will make tons of money is after he leaves the office. Obama can command $100,000 or more per speech, and he can do that 50-100 times a year. That alone is $5 million to $10 million annually. Obama will be booked solid for people that wants to see him speak. And what if he writes a book? Another bunch of millions? Regardless, Obama will be very comfortable financially.

The local goverment of Tokyo should enforce stricter building code on high rise apartments and condos by installing strong metal window guards and patios with higher metal guards with less gap on all buildings. Even though it is costly, in the long term, the installation of these permanent safety guards on the windows and patios will save alot of childrens life. Some of these high rise apartment owners have difficulty financially to pay for this but J-goverment should offer additonal tax breaks.

Parents are humans, too, and can have attention lapses. It's unrealistic to think those in charge of children will be able to keep at least one eye on them every single moment. Keep furniture away from windows so they aren’t more accessible by little ones. A crib beneath a window provides the perfect opportunity for a curious toddler to explore the world. A dresser near a window is easy for an unattended child to scale and topple out of. Window guards can be installed to ensure the window does not open more than ten centimetres. Window locks and stops or bars are other options. Patio doors need guards. All of these devices should be childproof yet be easily removed in the event of a fire. Even with preventive measures, proper supervision is critical.

Dell_1957 May. 16, 2012 - 06:38AM JST. By all means.....if any part of Japan does not want any US military presence then Japan should tell the US military to leave and not come back even if it means not coming back if Japan needs help defending from a hostile country. Americans are tired of countries that only want to use the US for military reasons and then when they don't need them anymore they want them out.
You have a short memory. Japan tried but U.S. won't let them. In 2009, when Hatoyama became a PM of Japan, the Obama administration was aware that there was a section of politicians in Japan who sought distance from U.S. Even many Japanese people started to view Japan’s policies as being dictated by the U.S. and described their own country as “America’s baby”. In particular, right-wing nationalists vouched for reducing reliance on the U.S. and argued that Japan must not be afraid to take a confrontational position in foreign policy. Hatoyama was probably articulating his foreign policy in conformity with the national mood but at the end it proved disastrous. The Obama administration was instrumental in Hatoyama’s ouster from office because of the latter’s inept handling of the Futenma base relocation issue. In April 2010 held at Washington, Obama snubbed Hatoyama and weeks later Hatoyama resigned and was replaced by the more U.S. acceptable Kan Naoto. Kan immediately confirmed that the Futenma base issue would proceed according to the US desire. No wonder, when the leaks surfaced, he declined to comment and said that the announcement of information was “not legitimate”. The Japanese government succumbed to the U.S. pressure to follow its line of thinking. Okinawa may be a problem for Japan but getting out of this is likely to be messy. Japan has no alternative than to preserve its alliance relationship with the U.S. for the foreseeable future.
