"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." --Martin Luther King, Jr.

yeah, wolfpack, they got u thinking exactly what they want u to think. "a jihad against western values, blah, blah, blah, liberty and freedom"

not defending either side here. both are as extreme as the other. neither side will ever learn from what they do or what is done to them. equally at fault and equally responsible for ALL the deaths in the islamic and western "civilized" world

tax tobacco! smokes are cheaper here than in any other advanced country. 440 yen for a pack??? i pay almost 3 times as much back home!

a new tax should be prorated. richer pay more.

Posted in: The government is considering the introduction of a new tax to finance the huge costs of reconstruction in the Tohoku region following last month's earthquake and tsunami. What are your thoughts on such a tax?

even now, after all that has happened, at my elementary school which is on the eastern coast in shizuoka, they have revised their evac plan in the event of a tsunami to climb to the roof of the gym. albeit a change from going to the top floor of the school, it is still not sufficient to protect the children from a tsunami the size of the one in tohoku. large buildings on the coast stories high were either washed away or completely overrun by the water. also, with a mountain to the rear of the school, there is no telling how high a tsunami could reach. if i was a parent at this school i would be seriously worried and very angry that the school board has not made an adequate evac plan for my child. as i said, there is a mountain behind the school however no talk has ever been made about getting the kids to walk up the mountain in the event of a tsunami

pointofview, dont go accusing everyone who voted for him to be solely focused on ishihara's views on foreign residents in japan. you think that was his political platform? pretty shallow thinking.

what is wrong with this picture??? where do i start??? they should be using all their energy to help those in need up north. this is not the time for a protest nor is it a time to be pointing fingers. whatever govt in power or company in charge of electricity, there is no way that this could have been avoided. their cries for reform are a mere whimper and fall on deaf ears, compared to the true sadness affecting all victims of the tsunami, quake and nuclear problem.

all the posters on this board so far (except one) have failed to recognize the real reason why this story is on here: money was raised to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. focus people! be positive and direct your energy to encouragement for good deeds done in a time of need rather than voicing your personal opinions
