All the anti-Japan people who like to comment that this article is exposing the downfall of Japan obviously don't watch the news in their own country. And the Shunkan Shincho gives us two examples? I think it's more economical to put a lot of cute girls together in one group than to have them all doing solo careers. though standouts like nana tanimura are acceptable (musical talent aside).

Everyone's mentioning Utada Hikaru but have you listened to her US album? It was absolute garbage, not even close to her Japanese ones. If BoA keeps doing what she's doing and doesn't try to go off on a musical tangent like Utada she could be a decent success.
