Americans think their country is sinking into the ocean and the Japanese think their country is sinking into the ocean. Both views are preposterous.

My guess is that the women want to have themselves appear in the movie that will inevitably be made about him. They want to get book deals. And she thought it was "too late" and let him continue? It is not absolutely "too late" until ejaculation.

The old people here in their 80s lived through the war and its aftermath, when they had little food to eat. They still eat Japanese food. Young Japanese may face the same reduced life spans as USians, although recent government statistics show that young peoples weight has been falling the past 2 years.

@Ah so, you probably noticed that I should have said "net OFF the governments OWN assets". Anyway, the next evidence that this is a non-story is that a day later it has already dissappeared from the news, with not much commentary (and the commentary that was written was half-hearted going through the motions reciting all the well known problems). Ho hum. Nobody took it seriously. Evidently, PM Kan hadn't heard about it at the opening of the daily diet session when asked about it.

@Ah so, yes a "predictable post" because it is true. Japan is the world's greatest creditor and the US is the greatest debtor. Where would you put your money? And also, if, as economists who know something about Japan know (if you can read Japanese), net of government assets (not including all that credit owed Japan), and debt is only 100% of GDP. Not good, granted, but nothing like the catastrophy they are putting out. Anyway, the 82 yen to the dollar says it all (yes, even if it is a sign that the dollar is weakening rather than the yen strengthening -- its the same thing).

Aren't these the people who gave AAA ratings to all that new toxic debt? They don't know pee-squat, sitting in their big New York City offices lording it over everyone. They didn't have a clue what was going on in the US, and they certainly don't have a clue what is going on here. Please ignore.
My rating for S&P: FFFF

Some may find the announcements annoying, but my ears were really ringing every time I stepped off the NY City subway when I was there a few months ago (not to mention everything is dark and narror and dreary - and why can't you swipe your cell phone to get into the stations? Primitive.). I prefer the Tokyo prattle anytime.

The writer should realize in some countries you go around with a donkey and cart, and take hours to get anywhere, going over dangerous mountains etc. We've all seen it on TV even if we haven't been there in person. Be glad you have the nice trains to ride on. Get into a positive vibe.

Shinjukuboy goes through Shinjuku Station every day. At most you spend about 5 minutes on a platform before a train arrives and takes you away from the noise (unless you are there late at night - in which case you deserve the noise). Look on the bright side and don't be a whimp. Actually, in the early 90 JR (then called JNR) tried dropping all announcements etc. during rush hour when presumably most of the people knew where they were going. The main reason this was dropped was because the platform personnel felt uncomfortable just standing around doing nothing (according to a weekly rag at the time).

It says it is a "memorial to those who have died in the line of duty" (or "fallen in action"). Does that include WWII? Won't this make China hopping mad?

Words like "implode" or "explode" don't really mean anything. When has anything ever imploded? The Roman Empire "imploded" over a 100 year period. People have been saying that Japan will implode since the 1970s and that the US would implode in 2009. Still waiting. Big things "implode" only exteremely slowly. It is a drama queen type expression. China will manage its affairs. We may have the invisible hand, but they have the iron fist.

Don't forget that the US spends more on defence that the entire rest of the world combined. Preparing for Armegeddan? Of course, most of the US military industrial complex is actually just an unemployment program. That shows up in recent results, right?

And the point of this article is????? Well, not bad for a high school social studies paper. I'd give it a B+.
PS: "oil rich Senkaku Islands"? The extent of the oil deposits there have yet to be ascertained. They may be "rich" or they may be miniscule and not worth the trouble.
