By the way, from Merriam-Webster's online dictionary:

sponge def. 3: one who lives on others

Sounds just about right to me.

    Shiuu,

You would do well to remember Bob Dylan's song "Like a Rolling Stone" and hope that your words don't come back to haunt you.

I'm sorry. I thought giving these guys taxpayer money is what everyone has been crying about. Now it's wrong to point out that moving them into a government building will speed up the process of subsidizing homelessness?

Great. Now they can sponge directly from the public teat.

if kids came to your house every day and threw rocks through the windows, wouldn't you want the police to go to their house and make them stop?

I think a better analogy would be if your crazy neighbor were to randomly fire a gun into your house every day for years and then having to listen to people on the other side of town say, "Well, it's not that big of a gun and he's only hit people once or twice so you're the one who's wrong for sending the SWAT team out to get him. If you'd just give him your house, this really wouldn't be a problem."

I really fail to see why Israel should be under any obligation to open its border with a terrorist government that vows its destruction. Calling for an end to the "blockade" (which Hamas brought upon itself through non-stop rocket attacks and is also backed by Egypt on their border) is basically the same as asking to make it easier for suicide bombers to get in to Israel to blow up more school buses.

I also find it interesting that the apologists fail to acknowledge that approximately 75% of the Palestinians killed have been members of the Hamas government. Unlike the Hamas terrorists, Israel makes considerable effort to avoid civilian casualties.

Given Israel's military advantage, if they really wanted to "murder" Palestinians, they'd all be dead already.

What we have now is restraint on a scale never seen in war. Not that it makes any difference to the Hamas apologists, of course.

I'll wager that at least 90% of people who on this site critizing Japanese people for not doing enough to help the homeless will in fact do nothing to help the homeless themselves.

Heh, "efficiency" and "Japanese" in the same sentence.

    Funny.

    Seat-belts schmeat-belts, right Japan?

I can't begin to count the number of times I've been told "Don't worry about it, you're OK in the back" when looking for the seat belt when getting in the back of cars here. (Silly me, I never listen and always buckle up.)

A fitting end to someone who sends his own child off as a suicide bomber while living in comfort himself.

The message here is that those who are wise and resourceful will make it.

Although much of the rest of the post is silliness, this part is exactly right.

I wouldn`t consider people too lazy to help themselves because they are homeless or out of work. These situations are all too common in a world that has so much money and corruption. Perfect example of failed politics and Democratic societies not working.

Hey, if you feel that way, feel free to put your money where your mouth is and give your next paycheck to the next homeless guy you meet. After all, if you're still getting a paycheck, it's certainly thanks to the money, corruption and politics of the free Democratic society which allows you to post such silly opinions on the internet.

Hamas went looking for this fight.

    Now they've got it.

It's time for the international community to step back and let them fight it out.

If Japan returns to life as it was before modernization (like during Tokugawa era), that wouldn't be very bad, I think. In that culture, mainly renewable resources were used.

Foreigners not being one of them. So I hope you remember you call to return to Tokugawa era Japan when they start kicking foreigners out.

I have very little sympathy for those too lazy to help themselves, but I agree with the post above: If the Emperor is going to call on others to do something, perhaps he and his family could live on a little bit less himself.
