I like how hard Japan tries to be prepared for disasters. It's genuine, effective (notice how not that many people die in earthquakes here compared to similar situations?), and plain admirable.

In Hachioji, the Chuo Line tracks were covered in mud at one place I went past, so I don't think this is the usual freaking out over a little rain.
The nearby Keio Line had a derailment between Takao and Takaosanguchi, too.
