I used to be a Red Bull junkie until I realized strong, black coffee works just as well, without all the sugar and other added calories.
The higher-end Yunker drinks work for providing a jolt of energy, but the cheaper ones are mostly a placebo, I think.

Actually if the non-Japanese half of any bi-national couple would actually sit down and READ the series, they would find plenty to laugh about and a lot they might have in common with Saori and Tony.
Can't say I'd expect much for the live-action film, though. Tony is just too quirky a character for an actor who was picked mainly on his physical resemblence (okay, just the beard, probably) to handle.

A lot of this hullabaloo could have been avoided if they'd made him a cartoon character, like half the other big-name "mascots" in Japan. Cartoon characters are allowed to get away with anything without anyone taking it seriously, using a real person only confuses consumers.

Actually the comic books (including the original series and the various spin-offs) are a warm, funny, entertaining, and--believe it or not--informative look at the life of a bi-national couple. Thanks to the everyday common sense of Saori (the wife, and manga artist), and the intelligence of Tony (husband and linguistic savant), it avoids all of the annoying stereotypes of the genre.
I'm afraid a lot of those stereotypes will creep into the movie version, though, if the Japanese producers/directors are given free rein...

I only ask because I thought I'd been winning the battle against "Mr. (First Name)" vs. "Mr. (Last Name)" or "First Name (no Mr.)" ... Maybe Dentsu intentionally picked a name that could swing either way...??

A tough balancing act when your product is so ove-hyped in the media (although Tanaka was responsbile for much of the over-hyping)--at first the product was a hit because it tasted good, was something new, and was made in small batches by hand in a single production kitchen. But as its popularity exploded, he needed to meet demand without flooding the market, which would reduce the product's cache among consumers, while not restricting supply to the point where people would get frustrated with not being able to find it anywhere. As the article notes, the fact that there were almost no barriers to entry for competitors (aside from the question of authenticity) kind of doomed the "only one" status of the product from the beginning, and when Tanaka ramped up production to the point where the product was no longer hard to come by, there was no longer any way to maintain the momentum.
Great tasting caramels, but this guy might have gotten a little too eager to grow.

With rooms averaging 15 sq. m., it's no wonder they can't attract more foreign guests... even APA Hotels, with its atrocious English, does better than this.

Not that I'm a big fan of fuel surcharges, but unfair to whom? How is this different from any other passing on of increased costs to consumers? I just booked a rental car in Honolulu at a "locked-in low local rate" of $194 a week (vs. a typical rate of about $325), but that rate doesn't include $45 for a "rental vehicle surcharge" or $42 in "airport concession fees", not to mention $27 a day for bare minimum insurance. Most major resort hotels now add a slew of mysterious "resort usage fees", nearly every airline now charges for baggage (and a laundry list of other items), and banks and credit card companies make most of their money from predatory fees that half the time you'll be lucky to hear about in advance.
So in that sense, the fuel surcharge, tied explicitly to a specific benchmark (the price of jet fuel), and charged upfront and under full disclosure, starts to seem almost reasonable.

I saw these guys on TV. A bunch of very talented professional musicians, and really dedicated, too, considering the discomfort they go through to put on these performances!

I've seen two, so far, in my new fifth-floor apartment. I know they're coming in from outside somewhere since my roach motels remain empty and they've both been the big, brown, outdoor type. Probably my bad luck to be living next to a yakiniku restaurant (though the restaurant's on the first floor of the building next door). All my windows are screened, though, so I'm not sure how they got in... ugh Having grown up on the rainy side of Oahu, Hawaii, though, this is no big deal. The roaches there were tough, you'd spray 'em with insecticide and they'd thank you for the shower.

Hey, if it isn't "Mr. Prime Minister" (his nickname at the time) from the second-to-last season of "AINORI"!!
Gee, he said someday he was going to run for office, and here he is actually doing it! Good for him.
There was an incident earlier this year where the younger Koizumi completely and quite pointedly ignored Yokoume's proffered greeting at a very public event, then got butt-kicked by the 'wide shows' for his arrogance.

You'd think they'd have worked these issues out ahead of time among themselves, in the privacy of their own home. Hillary certainly has every right to assert her authority as SofS but someone needs to keep Bill on a tight enough leash to prevent him from interfering with her work.

Well I suppose the nice thing about having so many hotels to choose from is that you can usually find one that suits your needs, personality, and preferences to a "T"... :)
