Google didn't support SOPA or PIPA. Last year Google and Verizon wanted to have a separate privatized internet from the internet we know today as net neutrality.

Also, Google new privacy policy that collects data from the users from all Google services. Google probably is going to sell the data it collects to advertisers or to whomever pays for it.

Google wants to change their image from a services to products but is having a hard time doing it like the failed Google Nexus smartphone.

Like the article says about Apple, Apple is able to sell an image and produce products/services that people like. Although there have been issues with the iPhone or/and FOXCONN, Apple have taken the steps to correct them in a manner that people approved (Good PR) which doesn't hit their bottom line.

With Apple success, Apple is suing their competitors who happen to be partners of Google. It's just makes Apple looks greedy and shows insecurity instead of letting the consumers buy which product they prefer. Apple sued Samsung and blocks Samsung from selling their tablet and the Samsung's 'Galaxy Nexus.'

It depends on the owner and what the phone is used for.

Had an Android, HTC Incredible, and didn't like it due to the lack of battery life, the lack of GB, and drop calls. Getting accustom to Android took some time. Paid $299 (1 year contract) for 8GB. The only plus about it was emailing an article without having to signed into an email account (not sure about now).

The iPhone was simple and easy to use. The iPhone4 was $300 for 32GB.

Android and the iPhone won't let the owner delete apps that comes on the phone. The iPhone have less bloatware than Android without the carrier name on it.

LagunaFEB. 13, 2012 - 01:34PM JST: the GOP-led Congress passed appropriations bill which included a mandate that federal employee health insurance plans include contraception and birth control coverage by a vote of 334-94, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor; this bill was enacted by Bush, who is apparently not Obama, as Cantor then certainly would have been against it very, very severely.

Your example is about federal employees who works for the government who voted to have their employees be covered and not for Catholic institution. Any businesses along with their chosen health insurance company can decides to offer contraceptives for free or for co-pay.

All Obama needs to do to make Republicans flip-flop is to advocate a position they hold. Look at the Libyan intervention: Republicans were "severely" for that type of thing until they were suddenly equally severely against it. Or the insurance mandate: Republicans for years portrayed this as a tenant of individual responsibility until Obama agreed; now they portray it as an attack on personal liberty.

Obama didn't let the Republican and Democrats have a say about Libya.

Both the Republicans and the Democrats are suppose to represent their constituents. When Congress and Obama pass laws that they believed they know what is best for their constituents and get their hand caught in the cookie jar then they take the sides of the constituents that elected them like the contraceptives. Some Republicans and Democrats backtracked on the contraceptives.

SushiSake3FEB. 13, 2012 - 12:31PM JST: Really, in a sensible America, how does "Big Government's ever increasing intrusion into their daily lives" trump jobs and the economy?

Jobs creation and the economy is very important. Would you rather have a job and let the government take over your life? The American Revolution happened and people wanted liberty and freedom from the British Empire. The country was founded on The Constitution. The Constitution protects the rights of the people. It is the foundation of how government should operate and the role of politicians representing their state.

The people were able to unite and let the President and Congress knows they didn't approve of SOPA and PIPA. The people can't even united to defend The Constitution. People have different interpretations of The Constitution and how it should apply to issues.

Didn't know contraceptives was consider an entitlement and preventive care by Obama's health care reform.

SushiSake3FEB. 13, 2012 - 01:00PM JST: Conservative Americans need to be asking their elected officials and representatives: what the hell are you doing talking about birth control?

SushiSake the contraceptives issue may not be important to you, but it is important to a lot of Americans. The 1st Amendment is being violated by Obama's health care reform. Women feels their contraceptives entitlement is being discriminated. Obama's quick fix wasn't a fix at all. He wasn't upfront about the fix. The contraceptives will be free. Who is going to foot the bill for the "free contraceptives." The insurance company will probably have the employers pay for the contraceptives some other way by paying a higher premium. The tax payers might pay for it or maybe a tax on condoms to offset the free contraceptives.

Why are you not engaging with the Democrafs and discussing how to create jobs?

It's election year and both the Democrats and Republicans are not business owners so they can't create jobs. Their main job is passing laws, allocating spending, and applying taxes.

LagunaFEB. 12, 2012 - 10:32PM JST: Obama offers a different approach, one that takes a step towards systems used in most advanced countries, including Japan.

I am all for everyone having access to health care. Can you enlighten us on how both Japan's health care and Obama's health care works? There is little information about how Obama's health care works except with the latest issue on contraceptives and being required to have health insurance under an employer. The employee can not opt out of his/her employer's health insurance. There is still no forth information as how it works. Obama's health care reform passed 2 years ago and I am clueless as how it effects me. What are the rights of patients, doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and the pharmaceutical companies.

LagunaFEB. 12, 2012 - 05:22PM JST: You know quite well that a president's greatest responsibility is to protect the interests of the United States. Obama voted against the war, and he should be given credit for seeing it through to a credible conclusion.

Can you cite your sources as to Obama voted against the war on Iraq. My understanding was Obama was against the war but he was not a U.S Senator to vote against the war in October 2002. Obama was sworn in as a U.S. Senator on January 3, 2005. Obama was a member of the Illinois Senate from 1997-2004.

Obama is acting in the interests of the country in continuing Bush's debt so he can keep blaming Bush. That's one way of looking at it. In the best interest of the country, Obama used executive power to authorized NATO in Libya which consists of American military personnel instead of asking Congress to authorized military use. The Constitution was written in such a way that there is a balance of power between the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary. In the best interests of the country, he signed off on citizens rights under NDAA.

Both the Executive and the Legislature are lobby by special interest groups that represents corporations.

You don't seem to understand the point of the graph, which was ADDITIONAL spending; the 126 was that added on to the existing defense budget; from this year, the existing budget will be steady or decrease slightly.

My mistake, the 126 was not spending instead it was listed as defense savings according to the chart. The chart did not list an amount for defense spending under Obama.

Where did the $2.5 trillion came from under Obama watch? We know were the $1.5 trillion came from under Obama.

The data supplied by the Congressional Budget Office and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to The Atlantic lack crucial information that was either not available at the time or was just not provided.

The point of the article is well taken.

LagunaFEB. 12, 2012 - 12:40PM JST: Skipbeat, this has been said before, but perhaps you missed it. Total debt added by a president is less important than the debt added by that president's policies. Bush over eight years instituted unfunded policies totaling over $5 trillion; Obama halfway through his presumed eight years is less than a third of that at under $1.5 trillion. A major reason the deficit exploded under Obama (aside from obvious effects of a recession, lower tax revenues and higher social spending, both automatic) is the continuation of the disastrous Bush policies. These are no fault of Obama.

For all that Obama blames Bush, GOP, and the Tea Party, Obama could have stopped the wars and spending all that with executive orders or with the Democratic controlling both the House and the Senate within the first two years in office.

The writer was very generous including the projections for Obama (F.Y. 2009-17) with $1.5 trillion.

The article don't add up like the Medicare drug benefit, 180, compare to Obama's health reform and entitlement changes, 152, when the cost of prescriptions drugs goes up every year. If that's the case than Obama's health care reform is about providing poor medical services and hoping that people don't get their prescriptions drugs.

The defense spending under Obama was listed as 126, On December 31st Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 alone for $662 billion.

SushiSake3FEB. 12, 2012 - 12:47PM JST: Obama inherited a skyrocketing debt spiral from bush. Would you rather GM had gone under and stayed under? The Dems turned that around, as they did the economy by pumping it with stimulus dollars, another thing conservatives appear to have not wanted to do, which would have been if for the US economy in the short to medium term.

Same rhetoric, Obama and his followers blame George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter etc. Obama have set precedent blame someone for your problem.

I am not benefiting anything from the GM bailout. The best people to ask are GM stockholders before and after the bailout. BTW, GWB bailed GM with $17.4 billion in 2008. The credit for GM success goes to GWB. Since Obama is the current president he gets the credit for it.

plasticmonkeyFEB. 12, 2012 - 11:41AM JST: Medical costs are inevitable, and the private sector has proven itself unable to control those costs responsibly.

You believe Obama knows how to control costs responsibly. The guy who ran up $4 trillion in less than 3 years as President. Congress knows how to control costs responsibly when they can't even budget a bill.

Democrats controlling the Senate appear unlikely to offer a budget at all, for a third straight year. Instead, they are already planning to use last years budget pact to determine the size of the pie and divide it into 12 annual appropriations bills that set the day-to-day budgets for Cabinet agencies. The move allows 16 Senate Democrats facing re-election to avoid having to make difficult votes on taxes and spending.

The health care industry is a business (capitalism) and a monopoly. Controlling costs is ironic because the fees keeps going up. From the pharmaceutical industry, insurance companies, and hospitals are the ones that dictate how much they charge for medical attention.

Since Obama's health care reform pass, the services has gotten worse. This is knowing from first hand experience. No appointment reminder and an automatic phone services on hold for 20 minutes, and rude staff. The doctor was a plus. Never went back because the staff were incompetent and didn't have confidence in the staff. Two years ago that was not the case.

The dental industry is more competitive and better than the health industry. The government isn't mandating everyone to get dental insurance.

SushiSake3FEB. 12, 2012 - 08:57AM JST: It's just a pity that strategy involves wrenching the level of America's morality back to that of the 17th century while virtually guaranteeing a majority of Americans will be able to experience first hand the fun and joys of living in a 19th century poor house. But that's the Conservative Dream.

The reason why America is losing the middle class is because manufacturing jobs and call center jobs moved overseas the last two decades. Those overseas jobs will be a factor in creating a middle class for China and India. Until the wages in China and India becomes the wages of what was in the USA then companies will go look for cheap labor in another country. If an owner is a Democrat or Republican they are going to do what is best for their business to stay around even if that means going overseas to save costs and be profitable.

Obama have put up more red tapes for businesses to do business. It defeats the purpose of a business being profitable and creating jobs. There more empty office spaces and empty parking spaces. Small business are going out of business.

Obama wants millionaires to pay 30% and how is that justifiable? The more a person's income increases than the person have to pay more in taxes. Those millionaires are probably small business owners who employs people. If their income decreases how are they going to hired people?

Proposals such as requiring a $100 per-takeoff fee on airlines and private jet owners, auctioning broadcast spectrum, and raising pension guarantee insurance premiums are in the mix as negotiators seek $160 billion or more in deficit savings to pay for a 10-month extension of the payroll tax cut and federal jobless benefits.

The airlines will just pass the $100 to the passengers. As if the airline tickets aren't high enough. Obama new budget is no different than a certain Republican governor.

SushiSake3FEB. 12, 2012 - 09:49AM JST: Yanee, the GOP had 8 years to get the budget under control. They did nothing of the sort, in fact they let it get out of control which is why it is a burning issue today.

National debt has increased $4 trillion under Obama @ http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20095704-503544.html

The latest posting by the Treasury Department shows the national debt has now increased $4 trillion on President Obama's watch. The national debt increased $4.9 trillion during the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush.

Contact lenses and glasses are not covered by the insurance. The insurance only covered the exam for glasses only every two years. Why isn't it part of Obama's health care reform? If Catholic churches are required to pay insurance coverage for birth control than why isn't contact lenses and glasses also part of the package.

Not quite. The us is more center-left (not liberal). The supreme court is conservative, the media sides with whomever gives them access (except Fox News which is always radical right), and congress is definitely conservative (otherwise Obama would have made a lot more progress with his health care proposal, and we would have had REAL financial reform)

Fox News is a business and being conservative because it works for them because the other channels are liberal. News are no longer objective but subjective.

Would have to disagree with the Supreme Court being conservative. Besides the Supreme Court, the courts in general are becoming more liberal.

Congress is definitely not conservative because the Senate have Democratic majority.

The health care reform is all about generating profits and cutting cost for the insurance companies and drug comapnies. If Obama wanted to pass the health care reform than why was't there a public hearing about the reform on C-SPAN? Without Fox News people would have been clueless. Why is it just now that the public is hearing about making the Catholic Churches and hospitals pay for their employees birth control. Why didn't Obama just have birth control become an over the counter drug and make it cheap for woman to have access to it? Why make health insurance and the employer paid for it since it is the woman who make that choice in the first place? The health care reform is not a TRUE reform at all. If hospitals are non-profit then why are doctors allowed to charge $245 for an initiate visit. If the costs for treatments and x-rays were affordable people would be able to go the doctors. Obama's health care reform doesn't address cost instead it shifts the cost to employers and employees.

For REAL financial reform, Obama should just be allowed to borrowed more trillions from China. That will balance the budget. The budget will balance when there is less foreign aid given to countries, less money to the UN, less money to IMF, less money for the military. With all the billions spent on R&D for the military there is a lot of military posts around the world.

Republicans are now extreme radical conservatives,

Perhaps you are confused, that described the Tea Party not Republicans.

    @Mirai Hayashi

From a historical point the country have shifted from being a conservative country to a liberal/socialism country.

Obama will win because...the country is liberal, the court is liberal, the media is liberal, congress is liberal, Obama is all things to the majority. The direction of the country is a mirror image of Europe. That is the current state of the country.

That's why the Republicans candidates are not being take seriously by the majority of the people, and they have themselves to blame. If the Republican debates were base on credibility and merits in producing jobs and keeping jobs they would have gotten the people's attention. The debates didn't even have substance instead they were attacking each other so it became a circus.

There is no real differences between Republicans and Democrats anymore. Republicans may want a smaller government. Whereas, the Democrats may want a larger government. Republicans may support corporations and the Democrats supports workers(unions). Republicans may support the 1% and Democrats say they support the 99%. Republicans is for cutting spending and Democrats is for spending,it's all relative. The end results is the same...the jobs are not coming back, the middle class is shrinking, the people are the ones stuck with the check.

Regardless of being a Democrat or Republican, people should take a moment to reflect the direction the country is going. The Constitution is at risk. The Constitution is the foundation of the country. Once that foundation is eroded, it is going to be hard to bring it back.

    @WilliB,

No, am not aware of that. You did bring up an interesting thought in regards to the differences between the Gulf wars, Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Where do the rest of the Arab nations stand on them?

Last year Israel have some run ins with Egypt, Syria, and Palestinians on the borders. Israel is a reminder to her neighbors as to who won the six-day war. Strategically speaking, Israel can't fight all of them at the same time. It would be in the Arab countries favor to attack Israel when their military power is lacking.

Let's hope that Israel have a lot of patience and not rush into it because there will be some serious ramifications otherwise.
