At the very least, the guy should be fired" No actually he should be put in jail. I've tended to a lot of people, including killers, that I would have preferred not to

As I said, they'll support democracy...until they decide not to. Flip. Flop." So, you are one of those that did indeed accept GWB's first election over Gore? Or did you or did you not protest it?

What will my viewpoint be today? Will I have a different viewpoint tomorrow?" If the president or if any of any of our elected officials can why can't we?

Probably. Does it depend on what I eat for breakfast." Or if you got something or you didn't before breakfast; that does have an effect on me.

So for these folks, democracy's cool...until it's not." Yeah, but you didn't answer the question

Yes, except GWB believed it took the invasion of a sovereign nation and the deaths of tens of not hundreds of thousands of people and untold billions of dollars. Turns out it took Facebook and Twitter." Now, that is the quote of the day... Ah but wait, there wasn't any facebook or twitter then

You can turn that around the other way: Look at all the leftists who where sneering at GW Bush's failed "democratic domino theory" in the Middle East now buying into it hook, line, and sinker. Talk about 180 degree change..." oooh Sushi, willi slaaaaamed you!

Looking out for all the conservative types who claim to be pro-democracy, unless - of course - it suits them to be anti-democracy as will likely be the case here." No, but it doesn't mean I have to support them. If you vote in my enemy you lose me as a friend until the next round of elections come around. By your words, I gather you would support the Nazis, the KKK, NOI, and what not because they were elected? Of course you wouldn't. Don't go yelling at conservatives yet chummy up to what I consider the epitome of conservative.

Facebook and Twitter - both American creations - helping to possibly bring these backward nations into the modern age, in the way the satellite dish helped the Poles and Czechs throw off the Soviet scourge." LIKE!

why isn't what is going on in Iran, right now, its own story? Why is it just lumped into last week's news? You guys hearing what's up over there today?

Boehner -> out. McCain -> out. Graham -> out.

Maybe, just maybe we ought to make a system where politicians are not allowed to make any other cash while serving except their salaries

We should be even more concerned about the protesters in Iran than that of Egypt, at least in Iran, there is very little chance a theological organization like the Muslim Brotherhood would reap the benefits of a regime change.

My only worry is that if such a protest occured in a country like The US, Canada, England etc. something tells me the folks involved would be pummeled by the police and military." Can't speak for Canada nor England, but in the US, history has told us time and time again, that the military and police are the last groups to pummel us, its always been us.

sushi, your post goes after one side, the GOP, when I'm trying to tell everyone its the whole damn thing (the gov) as it is in its current form. raising taxes or cutting programs is the best answer these two groups can come up with? Your point about cutting the defense budget for example, is the wrong approach, instead you should look at what the military is purchasing and from whom. SS should have an opt out and btw, it was never intended on being the pot at the end of the rainbow, which far too many have treated as such. For your health care, dude, take a look today and how to sell something to a hospital. You are only looking at what people pay at the door.

The plan would allow Bush-era tax cuts to expire at the end of 2012 for individuals making more than $200,000 and married couples making more than $250,000." There goes a lot of charity off the bat including:

"Wealthy taxpayers would have their itemized deductions limited starting in 2012, including deductions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions and state and local taxes." Not listed here is capital gains.. Why invest?

the budget proposal would impose about $730 billion in new taxes on businesses" Stupid! "and wealthy individuals over the next decade, while cutting about $400 billion in taxes on middle-income families, the working poor and other businesses, for a net tax increase of about $330 billion." conviently lumped all in one sentence...

“In the face of record-high deficits and continued high levels of unemployment, a budget that imposes massive job-killing tax hikes on small businesses and fails to address entitlement reform or tax reform is hardly the answer,” said Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich.," Very true

We need to stop voting in educated elites who've never run a business much less ever worked for one. Need to stop the career politicians from getting elected

Sushi, don't know who you are directing your post to, but you can't tell me you are happy with the increased size of Government offices, the build outs of their offices, and to add those high wages government employees get and the fact that they can hardly ever get fired in a traditional manner.

As one poster said, mass immigration is needed, but we all know that that will most likely not happen. What Japan can and should do is allow more foreign business to enter the market, stop the discriminatory methods of doing business, allow credit to be more easily accessed and ease up on the taxes, labor rules, issuing of stock for employees.

the Republican President will get back to supporting whichever dictator who can secure supplies rather than just reduce oil use" Number 1, Obama's admin supports Castro Number 2, Obama has only made oil harder to get, he has not made it easier for American companies to get on the non-oil energy band wagon. He has however made it easier for non-American companies to produce and sell alternative energy products in the US though.
