    If he was defending himself why couldn't he shoot to disable the guys instead of shooting to kill." This may have been his only experience in shooting someone... I can honestly say, even after being in the army, I wouldn't know how to point a gun, kept my cool, and purposely shot him/her say in the knee or foot..

    I'm a little bit peeved at that diplomatic status crap.. sure you've all heard about a president's son in NYC and in other places. Every now and then, you'll see a drunk diplo in Tokyo and when confronting this particular pipe smoking European, he shoves the passport in your face...

    I would calm down on the defense of this guy.. he's done.

    You are telling me that the only way to get our green economy moving is by taxing gas? Well, what's Japan's problem. I really want to know, I really really do.

    How about making it easier for alternative energy start ups get loans? how about not taxing their/our products for x years? How about allowing us to hire anyone we want to instead of being limited to union staff? How about redoing every government building moved over first and let the masses follow? How about breaking all government/military manufacturing contracts that have union people and force them to scrap open contracts and reverse them to use alternative? This is of course if you want a green economy... I gotta invite you guys to my house one day and see an "off the grid" Tokyo house that I still have to pay TEPCO a 2 million yen fee to have and I'm not allow my neighbors to receive any stored energy. Oh, and let's not forget the fine I may get by having an "alternative" non-approved by the gov batt storage that is also the same problem in 90% of most US cities, because after all, who works such utility jobs?

    China invested in clean energy technologies" I buy from China these products.. yeah, you could buy them there but you'd hardly see them in use.

    YOU ARE NOT GOING TO MOVE TO A GREEN ENERGY WITHOUT GAS DRIVEN VEHICLES TO BRING THE PRODUCTS TO YOU AND THE COST IS ALREADY EXTREME WITHOUT SUSHI'S TAX (PENALTY). I once believed in this. I did. really did.

    Airion: I should have said would they? And, I am positive you've heard about people leaving Islam and what dangers they face.. If some sort of ordinance was put in place about that, or maybe about zero tolerance towards Shia law, or maybe the hateful rhetoric that comes out of many Imams, including the new one for the NYC mosque, or maybe something about polygamy and arranged marriages were erased, maybe we would have no leg to stand on.. but we do have a leg. Devil Worshippers, Witches, The KKK and all those other nutty groups have a legit right to practice what they believe in many places, doesn't mean I have to support it.
    You can debate me all you want, but I find Islam out of all religions, to be the least tolerant. So, I'm intolerant towards the intolerant. Doesn't mean I won't invite a Muslim to my house; my kids' nanny is Iranian and I trust her with my kids. Quit the hyperbole. Its really a concern, not intolerance.

    I wish we had a way to keep conversations going, its getting harder and harder to make a point due to time, however I'd like to say, if anyone politician wants to increase our competitiveness, they need to come up with ideas that make it easy for people to start businesses. The US is getting damn near close to Japan's method and we who are residents can clearly see how bad that works. Case in point: Restaurants, which depend on many unskilled staff, are forced to pay a lot for each person they employ. Construction companies, which need also unskilled laborers are forced to pay a lot for each person they hire. Medicine and Medical products: Have any of you seen how much it costs a company in the US just to get their products through the FDA? While foreign companies get a virtual pass? We are talking about hiring lawyers, back and forth presentations the list goes on and on...

    tolerance, should be a two way street and the approach many who in support of these mosques have taken is far from even.

    People say they're fine with Muslims as long as they worship peacefully and moderately, and then fight tooth and nail to prevent them from doing so in their communities." Ok, would you support me putting up a church, jewish temple in the same neighborhood? There are a lot of reason to NOT just simply accept people so blindly. Right at this very moment, we have two high profile honor killing trials going in the US, we have the new imam of the NYC tobe Mosque saying some vulgar things... Stop, take a breath, and at least ask why is everyone so hyped over it.

    FB has let me get back in contact with many of my old Army buddies, friends from HS, etc... that's good What is not good is that after I was satisfied with the amount of people I had want to find, I all of a sudden had more friends from high school than I actually had while I was in high school... Haven't used it in a long time especially now that the wife knows what it is.....

    sushi, with your first idea, how are you going to get materials to those in the renewable energy biz - trucks which run on petroleum. How are you gonna generate power to said companies? Electricity (by gas, hydro, and coal). How you gonna get the sale people out to sell the products? cars, buses, and trains.... So, put a tax on said gas for motorists and you just cost a company cash before they even had their first sale.... I'm not knocking your ideas so don't go telling the mod I offended you.... I would like for you to take your idea and refine it though. The same holds true for the prez

    3/ stop all the talk about wanting small government." You haven't been listening.. People like myself want a smaller government not in size to pop ratio, we want a government that is not taking business away from people. We don't want some congressman having a lavish office fitted with expensive furniture and too many staff. We don't want government to decide to build a building, but buy a building from someone. And most of all, there are far too many government employees doing nothing.

    "This is an economic and fiscal meltdown, and if Americans want small government, admit that right now you need big government to pay your social security" No, there are far too many people working and running SSI as it is. ", provide a functioning healthcare system" No, leave it to the states build you roads" Nope there again with the exception to the interstates. The rest Leave it to the states keep your military going" The military pays far too much for goods from t contractors with over paid contractors and charging the gov at something like the 5th year's inflation rate. The gov should buy from non-union manufacturers.... "and sell your debt to keep America from defaulting." to who? its not like some collection agency can buy the gov debt at .10 on the dollar.
