If a politician promised to screw up the economy even more, they might get more votes for honesty. I predict whoever gets in will only do worse than Kan.

Sounds like she (the hostess) feared for the girl's safety. It sounds like they arrested the wrong person.

I don't understand how anybody could live with the stench of a dead body in their room, let alone how that could go undetected for years. My guess is that he was a terminal hikikomori who ran out of funds, so decided to end it all. Weird.

Jobs has done excellent work with Apple and has kept it on the cutting edge, especially in the 00s. I'm sure Apple will continue to put out good products in the short term after he's retired, but I wonder about the future. It takes a certain kind of person to accurately predict what direction will serve a company and its public best in the right time and place. Jobs was and is that man.

The DPJ is doomed. With Noda's right wing inflammatory statements he will cause untold damage to foreign relations.

I really do feel sorry for Kan. He may not have handled the disaster perfectly, but he did the best he could under the circumstances and I doubt anyone else would have done it better. Furthermore he's has the guts to stick around and try to make things right. But J politics being what it is would prefer to play monkey games than support a man who cares. The bureaucracy is going to destroy this country.

I agree that some Japanese can be annoying in their persistance to use you as English practice. For example, guys who hang around in the English corner of book shops. But throwing a fit because your friend writes you an email in English??? Some friend you are, Mike.

@globalwatcher, Maehara is another MP with a scandal over his head. Why would you want him as PM? He wouldn't hold up under scrutiny for 5 minutes.

Great another crybaby MP with a scandal under his belt. Him vs the right wing Noda. What great choices to lead the country! Let Kan stay, I say. He's the only PM in years to hold up under pressure.

Except this time they don't have a certain well known super power to 'help' in their recovery. It might not be so easy.

Too many people taking power saving too seriously. I bet the chiefs at TEPCO have no qualms about using airconditioning in their rooms.

I can't see the value in suing the Kindergarten. What to they expect to gain? A lot of people experienced tragedies and I'm sue the bus driver has every intention of bringing the children to safety. He main the wrong choice. It happens. There is no point in rubbing salt in the wound.
