I wish they'd fly from Haneda. And unless fuel prices go down, I doubt any airline is going to be able to offer cheap fares for much longer.

The figures are mind-boggling. Several trillions of yen. Where is the money going to come from? TEPCO doesn't have that kind of money. The gobvernment creates an entity to help pay the compensation, which means, we the taxpayers, get stuck with the bill. Higher income tax, higher consumption tax, maybe even a higher ward tax, and of course higher electricity bills. Damn!

Every time I leave Narita, the immigration officer barely gives me a glance and he only glances at his screen for a second. This may have been a computer glitch.
When I come back, though, I sure get scrutinized because the fingerprint machine never works the first one or two times.

Historians have been debating this for 66 years and will continue to do so. From the point of the view of those on the receiving end, I think it would be considered a war crime, though even the definition of a war crime is ambiguous. I'm still not convinced to this day why the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki was necessary.

I don't trust the labels on any foodstuffs, fruit or vegetables anymore. But I have been buying Aussie beef and Canadian pork for years, anyway. Nowadays, I buy imported fruit and frozen vegetables as much as I can, and, of course, bottled water.
The real problem will be rice. It's only a matter of time before it is contaminated, though if that happens, I believe the government will cover it up. Tainted rice would be a national catastrophe and make the rice shortage of the early 1990s pale in comparison.

Japanese audiences don't care if the film was released two months ago overseas. It doesn't spoil their enjoyment of the film. In fact, if a movie gets good reviews overseas first, then it adds to the anticipation. I know it does for me.
I suspect you posted that sentence to just bash Japanese society.
