The quality of the print from a digital camera is not as good as a photo taken with a film camera. Also, I think most people with digital cameras may be like me; they store the photos on their computer or on a DVD, but can't be bothered to get them printed and then put them into a photo album.

I missing putting photos in albums and still get nostalgic for the good old days of film cameras.

How very rude of the mayor not to look at the princess while she is talking to him. He looks as stiff as a board. Must be nervous.

Kan should tell the rebels and the LDP to go jump in the lake. Right now at this point in time, which politician of any party could do a better job as PM? Is there anyone? Too bad entrepreneurs like Softbank's Son, Rakuten's Mikitani or Globis' Hori don't go into politics, but they are too smart to go down into the mud.

Route, first of all, since many airlines have cut back their services to and from Japan since the earthquake. Then airfare, although I find that there isn't a lot of difference in airfares quoted to me by travel agents like H.I.S. and what I see advertised online. I'm more apt to go with an airline that advertises the fare including the fuel surcharge. As for other factors, seat comfort and food aren't a factor since I am stuck in economy class, and I doubt whether they differ much from airline to airline.

They should hold a press conference quickly and be transparent. Don't hide anything from the public. Top management should also insist that they be informed of problems by lower-level staff. Too many times in Japan, I have heard of cases where the president didn't even know what was going on until a scandal broke. Then he had to do his bowing and apologizing at a press conference.
On the whole, I think airlines handle crises fairly well because they say right away "We don't know what caused the crash. As soon as we find out the cause, we'll let you know." But companies like TEPCO, BP, Toyota, Bridgestone, Sony do not. They try to keep the lid on it and hope that things don't blow up in their face.

At least for this year, tourism officials should forget about Europe and North America and concentrate their efforts on Asia and the domestic market. That's where the growth is, anyway. Chinese groups are already startingto come back.
I talked some relatives from Australia into visiting Japan in the summer and they will be going to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Hakone, as well as Tokyo. So there are still plenty of safe places.
Posted in: Why do tourists continue to stay away from Japan, despite the fact that there are many places of interest far away from the crisis-affected areas? What should Japanese tourism officials do to promote Japan as a safe destination?

Why are you so obsessed with Obama? You still can't accept that the Republicans lost the presidential election in 2008. It sticks in your craw, doesn't it?

The media are less forgiving nowadays, so the risks are greater. Imagine what would have happened in JFK's time, considering what we now know about his sexual antics in and outside the White House. Reporters knew but just winked as if it was a normal thing for a virile man to be doing.

All men are internally wired to want to have sex with many different women as often as possible. It's been that way forever. But most guys can control those urges and respect social norms, like fidelity in relationships.
Famous men have more opportunities to fool around than ordinary guys. I guess they think that their power and influence (and influential friends) can probably help them smooth over any problems.

I wonder why there has been no mention of the video footage from the camera in the hotel hallway. As I understand it, every hotel these days has cameras mounted on each floor. Surely such video footage would settle the question of what happened one way or another.

I don't know what makes them tick. Some are obsessed, others want publicity, while still others can make money out of conspiracy theories.
It is difficult to combat the looney ones, though, because truth and logic don't work with them. There is one poster on JT with a history of Holocaust denial. He has been slamdunked by numerous readers time and time again, and yet he still persists in his denial. You could put him in a time machine and take him back and he still would insist it never occurred.
Topics like the supposed UFO crash at Roswell, JFK's assassination, the moon landing, Princess Diana's death, 9/11 and now bin Laden's death will always be fodder for conspiracy buffs.

I guess taste is subjective. I quite like some of Domino's current lineup, though I think some of their pizzas have weird toppings (for foreign palates) and they could be a bit cheaper.
I wouldn't agree, though, that overall, the quality is low. By the way, if you check out their English website, you can order your own toppings.

What a sleazeball. He must have really flipped if he chased the poor woman while naked.
I've heard so many stories about hotel maids being molested, including here in Japan. I heard one account (unpublicized) last year of a high-ranking minister from a Middle Eastern country who tried to have sex with a maid at his Tokyo hotel. She fled and he left Tokyo and the whole thing was hushed up with barely an apology from the government involved.
It's getting so hotel maids will have to work in pairs.
