Anyway, the families in such buildings, after they are relocated yet again, can just sit outside and warm up with some Nihonmatsu redwood. Oh wait, the government allowed THAT radioactive garbage out as well!
This kind of thing is going to be a daily report, by the way.

viking68: "Who is going to be eating crushed rocks? How is cement going to enter the food chain? Where is the reason for concern?"
I guess you missed the part about how radiation is being EMITTED at an alarming rate. It's not 'if', but 'why it was allowed'.

So, aside from a collective 'shouganai, ne', what are they going to do about it? My guess is they will say the families who were duped into buying condos in such building can leave 'voluntarily' and without any compensation, while the company that knowingly shipped the radioactive rubble will get off Scot free.

Now that the dude in Hiroshima is back in custody I guess they have roughly 800 police to spare.

Encouraging anyone to do well via sales of a specific product is just extremely poor and desperate advertising, and getting Kusanagi to pimp it only makes it worse. Does he take off his clothes and run to a park and assault police in the CM?

sunhawk: "what a tool, send him to jail for 25 years."
Agreed, except that it should be 25 years per death, plus a $400 million slap as the cost of the ship he so casually decided to risk.

"The Cabinet Office, in charge of keeping all public records, said it has told the agency to study what it can do to create a written record of the decision-making processes."
I hope they form a panel to try and figure out how they can do this -- I mean, you need a bunch of overpaid, lazy, unqualified bureaucrats and/or politicians to waste a heap of money figuring out how to push record on an audio recorder, or push record on a video camera.

"However, Tanigaki made no mention of his party’s stance on the consumption tax..."
Exactly! When this guy, sadly, takes office later this year he'll suggest raising the consumption tax and say it's not his fault. Tanigaki is one of the worst politicians this nation has seen, and that means absolutely horrible given that we are talking about Japanese politicians.

Tripped and fell into a lifeboat! Oh, woe is me! So why then did he quickly speed to shore, running over people on this way? Why not get back on the ship and 'save thousands' as he claims his actions did? This guy redefines coward, and I hope he redefines prison sentencing.

Her husband was indeed an idiot, especially to joke about his wife with the boss right in front of her, but 'radiation divorce' is also idiotic. No doubt we'll be hearing about it for quite some time, though, even though if a Japanese person want's to know what 放射 is in English they won't know the answer in most cases.

Isn't this JAL staff? With all the cutbacks it looks like the kind of crew they'd settle for! haha. Kidding. Cute shot, save that I agree with gakuseidesu, though -- the gender discrimination turns any and all cuteness of this shot into manufactured stereotypes that should be fought against. I hope they were at least given the option of being either or. Given that in Japan flight (cabin) attendant is still among the top five job goals for young women because they "want to look cute in the uniform", I doubt the matter is being given any serious thought.

I admit I do sometimes miss sitting at my desk or kitchen table after breakfast with a steaming cup of coffee and a newspaper in my hands, but it's just not worth it. Newspapers are static -- if the news is wrong or changes a few minutes later the best you can hope for is an update the next day. What's more, it's a waste of money, and outdated.
And JeffLee is bang on about the J-media.

"Gingrich’s attacks on Obama were in stark contrast to the chivalrous praise he heaped upon his Republican primary opponents: Romney, Christian conservative Rick Santorum and veteran Texas congressman Ron Paul."
Well, there you have it. You KNOW Obama deserves praise when this guy disses him than praises the other members of the clown posse vying to be GOP leader!
RomeoRamen: "Heh, "The One" makes Carter look like a Mensa graduate."
It truly does upset you guys to know Obama's got it in the bag regardless of which religious nut or philanderer wins the GOP race. It IS amusing though to watch you guys drag out the lines McCain's smear campaign wasted so much money on before they lost in a landslide.
As for Gingerich winning, I bet it was solely because Chuck Norris advocated him! :)

Good on SS! Keep it up! Of course, the Japanese terrorists will throw more grappling hooks and try hitting them with bamboo poles ACTUALLY threatening lives, whereas a bit of rotten butter does nothing, but hey, Japan will play the "we're just engaging in cultural tradition way down here in the Southern Ocean!" forgetting that two seconds before they claimed it was for 'science'.

That's it, it's done, folks. Kiss competition goodbye for the time being. Any company that tries to compete will be appealing to students, while Apple will have the permission of the schools. In all likelihood, it will involve school fees upped to include Apple products, and anyone refusing will be screwed. Clever.

Serrano: "How much much farther is the U.S. going to fall during Obama's second term?"
Fortunately, you're going to probably be allowed to bow down and admit how wrong you were when Obama is reelected. He'll have had enough time for at least SOME of his legislature to have taken effect -- same way GWB's disasters went into full bloom years after his disastrous aim ended. But I won't expect you to bow down before a camera, but instead pretend how all that is bad is Obama's fault and all Obama's good is thanks to some problematic Republican. :)
Better luck in 2016, my friend. My advice, though, would be to stop blaming others on your own problems (I mean US) and taking the liberties you have to do something about it instead of wishing for miracles (which the GOP promise, but would NEVER deliver... then blame on the Dems!).

"The draft legislation has won the backing of Hollywood, the music industry, entertainment giants like Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, the National Association of Manufacturers, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and others."
The scumbags in a lot of this. Glad to see them forced to have to think about a new way to screw us. Sure, at the end of the day a person deserves to be paid for an honest day's work, but calling these industries 'honest'? The artist is still going to get $30 M US for starring in the picture, and musicians will still get their millions for being in concerts.
tonsofun: "Before you go around bashing Obama's leadership skills, why don't you do just an ounce of research? Because regardless of whether or not you're right, you still put your foot in your mouth on this one."
unreconstructed look into something before he tries to turn everything into a rant against Obama?? Methinks you ask too much! But OUCH did you serve him some crow!
