hmm.. out of all of our friends who are having or had children with this year or last, (12 different families) not ONE of them claimed the "economy" as a deciding factor. Sure, they mentioned it's state as far as the future, but not so much. Most everyone I know is optimistic about it getting better and not so much orried about being able to support their children.
Huh? Our insurance covered 100% of everything from her pregnancy to her 1 month hospital stay, to the births,(twins) to their 2 month stay in the NICU. Not one Yen coming from our pockets. We still get the Government incentives to boot. Once they come home, we get the nice new 40,000Yen a month per child for extra support.

Good point shufu, it could be a Doc. drought but it sure looked like there were a lot to me. We originally were in a really nice hospital from the start of her pregnancy, but since she started going into labor at 28 weeks, they had her moved to a hospital that has an NICU. There, was the busiest and I guess our Doc did seem a little over tasked.
Luckily, the wifes family is really involed with us and is offering a lot of support which will make it easier. Unfortunately, we will be moving to Tokyo within a month or so making the stress level go up and putting more work on the wife. We might end up getting a nanny or friend/family to live with us for a while since I will be working.

I personally feel this article is a little out of date and I have personal experience that brings me to this conclusion.
My wife and I recently just had twins, premature by over 2 months so we spent a lot of time in the Hospital (1 month for her and 1 month now for the twins). During this time, we noticed that the hospital was over full of newborns. The Doctors told us over the last few months, they have seen a sharp rise in births, so much that it has tasked the nurses and staff overwhelmingly. In the week ours were born, 18 other babies and 5 other sets of twins were also born. It hasn't let up. The Doctors have been telling us they feel this might be the dawn of a new baby boom since it is not just isolated with Okinawa nor just our hospital, but they have reports of similar rises in births around Japan. It's good news in my opinion.
On a related note, I never realized how much money you MAKE having a baby here, it's been quiet a pleasent surprise. Even with all the problems and difficulties the wife and our premies have had, our insurance coupled with the Government incentives and family donations, it's been a rather fruitful time for us.

"karaoke" is also considered as "adult entertainment" in Japan. You guys are losing focus on a quick in translation and your understanding of the word "adult entertainment".
Fortunately, not all parents share your same sensitive christian values when raising their kids. I'm not sheltering my kids from weed. It's HARDLY a drug, and much less dangerous than alcohol ever was.

Except for the small factor that the boat is made from chemical compound resins which hold the composite hull together. Other than that, the debris should sink to the bottom.
What they SHOULD be worried about.. (if they actually care) is the ropes and cables they let drift across in front of the whaling ships trying to disable their props.

LEGALIZE IT!! Seriously, at first it sounds stupid but... there is so much potential for easy tax revenue and more police budget available for fighting real crime. Honestly, I think alcohol is far more dangerous than weed ever was.

boom, reality! Thanks for this. Some posters here don't post as if they are aware of reality. You are exactly right. A "girlfriend" who doesn't put out, is pretty much useless and 90% of men will lose interest immediately whether they admit it on JT or not.
This guy in the article however, went about it the wrong way. Should have just shown her the door and moved onto someone worth while.

man, do some of you guys even READ the articles????? It clearly says the flight originated OUTSIDE THE US. Therefore, the TSA had NOTHING to do with this. You can not blame them for any part of this incident.
I wonder what he was saying? Maybe, "Urgent International Business relationship needed, please transfer $10,000 and your account information to me so I can transfer the sum of $31,000,000 to your account..."

While I will admit 2009 wasn't the greatest, I got through it just fine. Even with all the doomsday talk, it wasn't that big of a deal IMO, atleast for me. I didn't really change my lifestyle too much, I ate the same, enjoyed the same things, but maybe I just watched my money closer?
Besides, that, my twin sons were born this month so I am so happy that I can no longer see any big problems that affected me too much. 2010 will be much better for sure though.
