Maybe it will encourage people to donate more money to be held by the local governments as they can't/won't decide how it should be spent.

smithinjapan - The thing is, if it was a strong & harsh sentence, it might deter other officers from doing it. Can't have that so it's best just to give him a 6 month break and then let him come back when it's all forgotten about.

Tahoochi - Are you sure it's not the opposite way around? Going deeper increases the partial pressure of gases in your body, which is why you get the phenomena known as nitrogen narcosis at depth, which can have a similar effect as driunkenness. If you're talking about it being easy to get light-headed due to lack of oxygen at depth and much thinner air, then yes, but that's way above what a cabin is pressurized to.

Plenty of arrests down here in Okinawa yesterday with all the bosozoku kids out on scooters and in cars. Police had one of the main roads here down to almost one lane so they could pull people over.

Well there's no doubt it had an effect last year. I mean, the whaling season was cut short and see how little scientific research findings were released in 2011.
Oh wait, no research is ever released apart from how good it tastes in whaleburgers.

Surely the majority of money will go to end of year bonuses for being able to "shut down" the reactor within their timeframe, and then the rest will cover the donations given to the nuclear safety panel.
Maybe a bit of cash left over for a massage chair or two and some baseball gloves.

Still makes you wonder why all this money from donations is being held by the local and national government and not being spent (as was reported on here a couple of months ago). Although it's probably lining someone's pocket nicely so we shouldn't really worry...
