realmind - Which island is China making a base on? As far as I know it's not in Alif Alif North or South.
Also, just curious what the protocol is here. When warnings are given to a foreign vessel, what language are they given in? Not trying to justify anything, but it just brought the question up in my head. If say, a French vessel came into Japanese waters, would the warning to leave be given solely in Japanese, in French, or is there a common lingo used?

Al Stewart - The police are saying he has confessed... whether that is the case is maybe up for debate. Maybe that's what it's getting at.

Where are the people who were claiming before that this group's target demographic is the kids, and that they are great role models for them?
Very creepy, but completely understandable as a money maker here in Japan.

I was all set to see them play in DPRK back in the middle of 2005 until it got moved at the last minute to Bangkok. Still went though and had a good trip.
Hopefully they can organize some sort of tour or get someone like Koryo Tours involved to do it.

Is the death penalty for the deaths that came from the arson, or for torching the pachinko parlors themselves? Japan loves its pachinko cash cows.

They needed a reason that they didn't reach their highly unlikely expectations for the World Cup. Stating that their sights were set too high wouldn't work, and neither would saying they just weren't good enough. But blaming it about people who are not "pure" Japanese in the team... there's an excuse all the people high up in the hierarchies can agree with.
