Japan can get protein from othe sources, there is no need to import or kill these lovely creatures.

Thionking about this makes me cry. We should boycott Japanese products to show our disgust!!!

    Whaling is horrid!!!

Cowing is horrid!!! So is sheeping, fishing and pigging. It's time for governments to make veganism compulsory. Except that vegetables also feel pain (http://www.newstatesman.com/200408020017) and are thus slaughtered in a manner endorsed by those supposedly humane individuals who decry the killing of fauna.

Seriously though, if non-endangered species are targeted, and not too many are taken, then there shouldn't be any problem with whaling. However, there are plenty of other fish in the sea, so to speak, and is it necessary to eat an animal which can only be captured by a harpoon through its body, when we can dine on one that has been killed instantly with a bolt though its brain?

You know, there are children dying all over the world, yet people spend their money on this kind of crepe. That said, I should spend less on food and send money to charities, so I guess that's enough from me.

If you know someone is going to put you to death, and you let them, isn't that suicide?

"Christian martyrs "do not die in order to kill others, but rather give their life to save the life of others, so that they do not have to give up their faith, to support other believers out of love. They are not seeking death, but they do not renounce their faith or human behavior in order to save their own life." http://catholicexchange.com/2004/03/24/84741/

I imagine other religions have a similar argument.

If you are a christian and you really believe it, how can you have any respect for anyone following another religion because, by default, you believe they are completely wrong and doomed to go to hell.

We respect people's right to do whatever they want with their God-given free will. We respect those people, if not their choices. Just as we should all love the sinners, but hate the sin. And yes, we respect other religions, as most have elements worthy of respect. We don't (or shouldn't) respect elements that go against what we believe. To give an example, I have very little time for the idea of stoning a woman to death for adultery, but think that Islam has some excellent teachings on how to treat people well.

Anyhow, at the end of the day, the best thing that we Christains can do is simply pray that those who are currently following a different path will end up with God either before or after they die. That, incidentally, is what most if not all of those martyrs did, as you'll read if you visit the Shrine of the 26 Martyrs in that lovely city.

    Proxy,

We should all respect each other. So what evidence do you offer to support your beliefs?

    Everton2,

Would you volunteer to put a gun against each man's head and pull the trigger? Why not lower the body count to 45? C'mon, let's negotiate!

Yes, Naoko. It is. But it's cash in the bank and better than handing out tissues at railway stations.

1)Stop trying to be WHITE or BLACK with your outfits and attitudes. 2)Stop treating Gai(koku)jins like Gai(koku)jins and act with the same respect as you do with your own! 3)People should have POSITIVE experiences when in a country, SMILE more! (They are ususally drunk or asking for money) 4)STOP BEING SO EMO!! Enjoy life and spread good energy. Less suicide rates. 5)All newcomers should get a booklet in their home country's language explaining how to travel throughout japan the easiest and cheapest! 6)FIX your language!!! (It's confusing for you and us) 4 different types(Katakana, Hiragana, Kanji, Romanji) in one language...DameDA!!

Actually, the only thing Japan needs to do is make sure people like this don't live here.

Tragic. Unfortunately, people will use this as an excuse to crack down or cut down on trick or treating, yet drive their kids all over town all year long despite how many kids die in traffic accidents.

Yes, let them walk everywhere instead. You should contribute to this forum more often, caveman, as it's good to see people like you trying to get a rise out of others.

Anyhow, if there are an members of the NRA reading this, do you seriously think everyone has a right to any kind of firearm on the planet, or is that just media hype?

God Bless America...because nobody else will. Except for anyone with a leaning towards the democrats, of course. And anyone on the left hand side of the fence. And anyone tired of the Bush administration. And anyone who thinks abortion is a non-issue.

    Medieval times,

Sorry, I should read posts more carefully. Behind you all the way, mate!

    Tatanka,

Go and spray paint your ultranationalist fatigues and your black van hot pink, and then watch the movie before posting about stuff you don't understand. Then think about what deliberately causing the deaths of millions of people might cause YOU to be labelled! And the have a nice life. Peace!

All those responsible for the war, on all sides, should be viewed with distaste and disgust. If we do not, we risk allowing petty sentimentality to lead us down the road to the arrogance and short sightedness that leads to war.

Medieval times, I don't remember England invading Poland, or the U.S. Korea, China, Singapore and Hawaii. In other words, read some history before you post, as I imagine Beat Takeshi has! ( Hope that's "on topic" enough for you, JT!)

Well done to JT for putting the word talent into the quotation marks that it rightly deserves. On the topic of the girl, it's sad to see a kid thinking that becoming a carved chunk of metal or wood as a wise career choice.
