“The water poses no health risks” .....Does this guy work for TEPCO also? Sounds very familiar. This is assuming that there are not anymore radio isotopes (cesium, iodine, strontium, etc) in the water. I bet there are though.

Stop scaremongering folks! The last thing we need is "panic". Panic is worse than the actual effects of radiation as it is bad for the precious economy. If you leave Tokyo the wheels will fall off the wagon. Stop talking about this and go back to work and consuming.

Nothing to see hear. Go about your business - work, consume and obey. Keep smiling, everything else is a baseless rumor.

This is a step in the right direction but it must be taken further. TEPCO execs and all others responsible for the catastrophe at Fukushima Daiichi (they were warned many many times) and the subsequent deceptions should be FORCED to work at the reactor site to do manual clean up.

Why should others have to work there while those responsible are away safe and sound in their homes eating food from foreign countries? It is time for the people of Japan to turn the tables and make a serious change. Why should the people have to suffer because of their greed, corruption and ignorance?

Great! Too bad this did not happen a year ago before the worst possible event occurred. This is like turning off all the dangerous old power outlets after the house has already burned down.

Yes but most importantly was there any further damage to Fukushima Daiichi and especially the SFP of reactor #4?

The worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl? No, this is the WORST crisis ever, period.

All those responsible for deceiving the public (TEPCO, Japanese authorities, IAEA, Japanese media, lying nuclear "experts") should be arrested and force to do manual clean up at Fukushima Daiichi.

Just think of what the ocean fallout from Fukushima will do to the poor sealife. We do not see it because it is below the surface (out of sight out of mind) but the damage to marine life will happen. The full extent and impact is probably being postulated by science folks but they can never really be sure with any real degree of accuracy. There are too many unknown variables.

So now that we are almost at the precipice how good of an idea does it seem to have built 56 nuclear reactors all over the country in this quake prone zone of the earth? Yeah, that was a very stupid idea.

Just think of what a different reality Japan would have now if they had used their brains and had instead tapped their own geo-thermal resources. No reliance on other nations for energy and no dangerous reactors. But sadly Japan fell the whims of America after being beaten after the war. Japan has been the lackey all these many decades since and is now paying the ultimate price for it.

I remember back in January of 2011 saying to my wife (ever so foolishly and naively) that Japan would be a safe place to live as it had already been nuked twice. The odds of it happening ever again are infinitesimal. Sadly I was wrong beyond any understanding.

such as a chef’s license for sushi.

No one will be eating sushi in the near future once they see the extent of the contamination from Fukushima.

I thoroughly expect the downvotes for this but looking at Japan's current situation since the Fukushima disaster started and forecasting ahead along with the economic collapse looming the foregone conclusion is that Japan will soon be finished as a nation (I give it 10~15 years).

Yes, I realize this is a negative and grim sounding prediction but this is the reality of Japan today. I will add that I believe there will be major wars in the world in the coming 1-5 years which will result in major chaos globally so Japan will not be alone.

Great job on the clean up but sadly the camera cannot capture radioactive fallout. This is what the real danger is now and for the future of Japan and it is being completely mishandled by those running the show.

Why would you even consider bringing snow from the North to the cleaner area of Okinawa? That is insanity. Sure they say they have tested for contamination but how was this test performed. Did they only test for gamma emitting radionuclides or did they test for alpha emitters like plutonium?

I bet their tests did not include checking for the presence of plutonium. I am away in North America now and I am very concerned about the snow here.

Check keywords radioactive snow on youtube:
